Scouting report

PHI QB Gardner Minshew - Week 16 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 16 at Dallas Cowboys
With Jalen Hurts officially out, Gardner Minshew will receive the reigns to the Eagles offense on Saturday. This will be Minshew's first meaningful action in 2022. Last year, he did quarterback the Eagles to a win over Jets and the Cowboys. Minshew had some success in Jacksonville until Trevor Lawrence showed up, but then became expendable and ended up in Philly.

Minshew faces a Cowboys defense that is ranked 5th in aFPA to quarterbacks, but was very shaky last week in a loss to the Jaguars. He will have all the Eagles weapons at his disposal so we expect some success this week.

Minshew ranks as a high-end QB2 for Week 16. If you had Hurts as your starter, it might be necessary to pick up Minshew and give him a start if there are no other options available. He still ranks higher than most of the NFL starting quarterbacks this week.

JAX QB Gardner Minshew - Week 16 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 16 vs. Chicago Bears
Although the Jaguars were blown out in Baltimore last week, Gardner Minshew completed 76% of his 29 passes for 226 yards and two scores. He’s thrown for at least one TD in eight of the nine games in which he’s appeared this season. Minshew will be facing an above-average Bears pass defense at home this week so he's just a QB2 option.

JAX QB Gardner Minshew - Week 15 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 15 at Baltimore Ravens
After taking over for Mike Glennon in the second half last week versus the Titans, Gardner Minshew lit a bit of a spark into the Jaguars offense, finishing with 31 attempts for 178 yards and a TD. With the team far behind, Jacksonville quarterbacks threw over 50 times, compared to just 15 team rushing attempts. On the road against an average pass defense, Minshew should only be used as a QB2 play.

JAX QB Gardner Minshew - Week 12 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 12 vs. Cleveland Browns
After missing the past three games with a strained ligament and multiple fractures in his right, throwing thumb, Gardner Minshew will not return to QB the Jaguars on Sunday. After a good first performance, the offense has struggled with rookie Jake Luton under center the past two weeks and will go with Mike Glennon at the helm.

JAX QB Gardner Minshew - Week 7 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 7 at Los Angeles Chargers
The Jacksonville offense has struggled the past couple of weeks which has led to Gardner Minshew putting the ball in the air often. In the home loss to the Lions last week, on 44 attempts he tossed for 243 yards with both a passing and rushing TD. While he’s accounted for multiple scores in five of the six games this season, he’s had to throw at least 40 passes in five straight. Expect Minshew to again be slinging it at Los Angeles on Sunday against the fourth-worst pass defense, making him a low QB1 play.

JAX QB Gardner Minshew - Week 6 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 6 vs. Detroit Lions
At Houston last week, Gardner Minshew recorded his third 300-yard day of the season and his second consecutive. In the loss, he tossed for multiple TDs for the fourth time already, completing a season-high 31 passes on a season-most 49 attempts. In the past four outings, all losses, Minshew has put the ball in the air at least 40 times. Sunday's contest may be a bit more competitive which makes him a low QB1 option at home versus an average Lions pass defense.

JAX QB Gardner Minshew - Week 5 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 5 at Houston Texans
Last week against what was a decent Cincinnati pass defense coming in, Gardner Minshew threw for 351 yards and two touchdowns – both to the returning D.J. Chark. It was the second time this season Minshew passed for over 300 yards and his third multiple score outing. The Jaguars continue to find themselves playing from behind, which has resulted in an average of over 320 passing yards the past three games. Even though Houston has the No. 5 pass defense, Minshew and the Jacksonville offense should again be able to move the ball through the air on Sunday.
