Scouting report

MIA RB De'Von Achane - Week 17 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 17 at Baltimore Ravens

De'Von Achane got off to a historic start at the beginning of the year, but he's cooled off since returning from his injury. In his last three games, Achane is averaging 54.6 scrimmage yards with no touchdowns. Not bad, but nowhere near the 100+ yard games he was having at the start of the year. This week he'll draw a brutal matchup vs. the Ravens (1st aFPA). It's not ideal, but Achane's speed always gives him a high ceiling due to his ability to break a big play at any moment. Still, his recent production makes him a little risky. He should be viewed in the RB3 range for Week 17 due to the tough matchup as well as his timeshare with Raheem Mostert.

MIA RB De'Von Achane - Week 16 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 16 vs. Dallas Cowboys

De'Von Achane had a solid afternoon last week rushing nine times for 32 yards while catching three passes for 30 yards. The Dolphins somewhat limited Achane as he only played on 39% of the offensive snaps since the game got out of hand quickly. Expect a bigger performance from the rookie this week in a big game against the Cowboys (16th aFPA). Achane should be viewed as a strong RB2 option this week, and he's a player with a high ceiling due to his playmaking ability.

MIA RB De'Von Achane - Week 15 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 15 vs. New York Jets

The Dolphins did a good job of splitting up touches between Raheem Mostert and De'Von Achane last week. While Mostert had 21 carries, Achane wasn't ignored as he had seven carries and nine targets, finishing with 71 scrimmage yards. Achane will draw a favorable matchup this week against the Jets (28th aFPA) and we'd expect the two backs to continue to split duties while both finding success. Achane can be viewed as a solid RB2 option in Week 15.

MIA RB De'Von Achane - Week 14 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 14 vs. Tennessee Titans

De'Von Achane fully returned to the lineup last week and started doing De'Von Achane things again. He ran 17 times for 73 yards with two touchdowns and caught three passes for 30 yards. Achane now has nine touchdowns in his first six starts, which are the second-most ever by a player to start his career. And in two of those six starts, he played a total of nine snaps. Achane when healthy is just insanely efficient, and he apparently just has a nose for the end zone. He'll be a strong RB1 play this week against the Titans (16th aFPA).

MIA RB De'Von Achane - Week 12 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 12 at New York Jets

The return of De'Von Achane was short lived as the rookie running back only played three offensive snaps before leaving with a knee injury. Mike McDaniel hinted after the game that Achane probably could have gone back in, but the Dolphins played it safe. Achane has a short turnaround in Week 12 as Miami plays on Friday, so Achane's health will be worth monitoring. But if he is able to go then he draws a favorable matchup against the Jets (30th aFPA). The Jets have given up the 4th-most total rush attempts to running backs this season, so there should be plenty of love to go around when it comes to splitting touches with Raheem Mostert. If Achane is active, we like him as a low-end RB2.

MIA RB De'Von Achane - Week 11 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 11 vs. Las Vegas Raiders

De'Von Achane is expected to return this week for the Dolphins. The explosive rookie put up absolutely ridiculous numbers before his knee injury sidelined him. His rushing totals in his last three games were 203 yards, 101 yards and 151 yards. He also scored seven touchdowns in that span as well as 63 total receiving yards. On the one hand, owners might want to temper expectations as Achane plays in his first game back from injury. But on the other hand, he was so productive and he draws a favorable matchup against the Raiders (27th aFPA). Assuming Achane is active and plays, he should be viewed as a strong RB1 option in Week 11.

MIA RB De'Von Achane - Week 5 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 5 vs. New York Giants

De'Von Achane has come out of nowhere to take over this Miami backfield. Against a tough Bills run defense in Week 4, Achane ran eight times for 101 yards with two touchdowns. He also caught three of his five targets for 19 yards. Achane is now RB3 in half-PPR despite only having two offensive touches in the first two games of the season. Achane has suddenly put himself into must-start territory, especially as he gets a decent matchup against the Giants who are 20th in aFPA. It's hard to imagine he'll keep up this insane pace, but we also wouldn't want to leave him on the bench while he's putting these numbers up. He's a top 10 option at RB in Week 5.
