Scouting report

ARI QB David Blough - Week 17 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 17 at Atlanta Falcons

David Blough has a nice matchup this week against the Falcons, who rank 20th in aFPA to opposing quarterbacks, but he's too risky to warrant starting in all but the deepest of 2QB leagues. Blough had some success in relief of Matthew Stafford in Detroit, so there's upside, but it's hard to envision a huge day for him. Sit him.

DET QB David Blough - Week 17 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 17 vs. Green Bay Packers
In the loss at Denver last Sunday, David Blough completed only 50% of his 24 attempts for 117 yards and a TD. While it was his first game without an interception, he was sacked four times. The rookie has thrown for over 250 yards every other start so this would be his week to post better numbers. In mid-October at Green Bay, Matthew Stafford passed for 265 yards, but Blough should only be started if you’re desperate.

DET QB David Blough - Week 16 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 16 at Denver Broncos
With the Lions playing from behind last week versus the Bucs, David Blough passed for 260 yards on a career-high 43 attempts. In his first three NFL games, he is averaging 40 attempts for 243 yards but has been picked off five times. On the road facing the No. 11 Denver pass defense, Blough should only be started if, for some reason, you have no other options.

DET QB David Blough - Week 15 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 15 vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers
After throwing for 280 yards in his NFL debut on Thanksgiving, David Blough found things a bit tougher at Minnesota last week. In the loss he put the ball up 40 times, throwing for just over 200 yards and a garbage-time TD to Kenny Golladay. He was also sacked five times and threw two picks. The rookie will be back at Ford Field on Sunday versus the league’s second-worst pass defense, but he should only be started as a QB2, especially without Marvin Jones.

DET QB David Blough - Week 14 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 14 at Minnesota Vikings
In his first career start on Thanksgiving, David Blough got off to a great start but couldn’t do much in the second half. In the loss to the Bears, he finished with 280 yards and two TDs, including a 75-yarder to Kenny Golladay. In the home defeat to the Vikings in Week 7, Matthew Stafford threw for over 350 yards and four scores but don’t expect anywhere near that performance from the rookie on Sunday. Blough makes for a QB2 play on the road.

DET QB David Blough - Week 13 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 13 vs. Chicago Bears
Undrafted rookie David Blough could be forced into action on Thanksgiving, as Jeff Driskel is bothered by a sore hamstring. While Blough is getting first-team reps during the short week, the Lions starting QB may not be announced until early Thursday. There is no reason to pick up the former Purdue Boilermaker, especially facing a stout Chicago defense.
