Scouting report

HOU RB Dameon Pierce - Week 15 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 15 at Tennessee Titans

It seemed like Dameon Pierce had been working back into a split with Devin Singletary, but Singletary saw 13 rushing attempts to Pierce's four in Week 14. With the fantasy playoffs here and all the byes in the rearview mirror, Pierce is simply too risky to start against a good Titans defensive front.

HOU RB Dameon Pierce - Week 14 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 14 at New York Jets

It seems Dameon Pierce has reclaimed the lead role in Houston's backfield. He saw 15 rushing attempts last week against Denver compared to eight for Devin Singletary. Of course, Pierce wasn't incredibly effective, rushing for just 41 yards. He did score a touchdown for the first time since Week 3. We're right back to not having much fantasy faith in either Houston running back, so even in a good matchup against the Jets, Pierce is a low-end flex option.

HOU RB Dameon Pierce - Week 13 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 13 vs. Denver Broncos

Dameon Pierce returned from an ankle injury in Week 12 and touched the football six times in 11 snaps against the Jaguars. By comparison, Devin Singletary had 12 touches, including six receptions. Before the injury, this was a committee between the two. Perhaps we're heading back that way, but the Texans can't ignore how good Singletary was while Pierce was out. Singletary is the preferred back. Pierce should stay on the bench for now.

HOU RB Dameon Pierce - Week 9 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 9 vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Dameon Pierce still has a slight lead in what has become a committee backfield in Houston with Devin Singletary. Pierce still sees about 12 rushing per game. He also does get a fairly decent matchup against a Buccaneers team that is allowing about 100 yards per game. But his ceiling will remain limited as long as Houston continues to split the touches almost evenly between Pierce and Singletary. He’s a risky flex at best.

Update: Pierce is OUT with an ankle injury.

HOU RB Dameon Pierce - Week 8 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 8 at Carolina Panthers

The Texans split the rushing attempts just about evenly between Dameon Pierce and Devin Singletary in Week 6 (13 for Pierce, 12 for Singletary). Pierce is also now averaging under three yards per carry. He may still be thought of as RB1 in Houston, but Singletary is now more involved in the offense, limiting Pierce’s potential. Still, Pierce is worth a look in the flex position.

HOU RB Dameon Pierce - Week 6 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 6 vs. New Orleans Saints

Dameon Pierce continues to see most of the work in Houston’s backfield, but he’s not exactly doing much with those opportunities. And now he goes up against one of the top rushing defenses in the league in the Saints. Pierce’s volume still warrants fantasy consideration, but it may be tough sledding this week.

HOU RB Dameon Pierce - Week 5 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 5 at Atlanta Falcons

The breakout game of the season finally came for Dameon Pierce. He rushed for 81 yards on 24 carries and had over 100 total yards. With QB C.J. Stroud playing strong, the offense is starting to open up and things could get easier for Pierce. It's a tough matchup this week in Atlanta (No. 4 in our matchup rankings vs. RBs) but Pierce is the man in Houston's backfield, so he's worth a look as an RB2 or Flex this week
