Scouting report

NYJ RB Dalvin Cook - Week 11 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 11 at Buffalo Bills
Dalvin Cook has had only 17 carries over the past five games. The Jets have been riding Breece Hall in the running game and Cook has become an afterthought. Cook might get more opportunities this week and if he does, he could get some fantasy numbers. But those are big ifs and he should remain on the bench for Week 11.

NYJ RB Dalvin Cook - Week 10 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 10 at Las Vegas Raiders
Dalvin Cook's playing time has pretty much disappeared. He had three touches for eight yards last week. The Jets want Breece Hall to get as many touches as possible which means Cook isn't part of the plan. Only reason he is mentioned this week is because the Raiders run defense is very bad. Keep Cook on the bench for Week 10.

NYJ RB Dalvin Cook - Week 6 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 6 vs. Philadelphia Eagles
Dalvin Cook had six carries for 23 yards last week, but he played a season-low 17% of the Jets offensive snaps. This has basically become Breece Hall's team. The matchup this week will be tough against a very good Eagles defense. But in the end, it's the lack of action for Cook which keeps him on the bench or even waiver wire for Week 6.

NYJ RB Dalvin Cook - Week 5 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 5 at Denver Broncos
Dalvin Cook played 25% of the snaps on Sunday as Breece Hall is getting more and Michael Carter still in the mix at running back for the Jets. Cook will still have a role, but his fantasy stock as already plunged.

Cook faces the Broncos who are ranked last in the NFL in aFPA to running backs. But he will not get enough action to warrant a starting spot for Week 5. Keep him on the bench against Denver.

NYJ RB Dalvin Cook - Week 4 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 4 vs. Kansas City Chiefs
Dalvin Cook's snaps fell to 25% last week which means the Jets are feeling better about Breece Hall's recovery from the knee injury. Cook ended up with 11 touches for 29 yards, but the Jets offense with Zach Wilson at quarterback is the bigger problem.

Cook will remain the backup, but the snap count is probably going to stay in that range and when he does get on the field, he will be facing a very good Chiefs run defense. Keep Cook on the bench for Week 4.

NYJ RB Dalvin Cook - Week 3 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 3 vs. New England Patriots
Dalvin Cook had only five touches for 12 total yards, but a lot of that to do with the Dallas defense. He is splitting time with RB Breece Hall and that should continue until Hall is closer to 100%.

Cook faces a tough New England run defense so although it will be better than last week, don't expect anything special for Week 3. Start Cook as a low-end RB3 or Flex as we expect the Jets to try to force the run more to protect Zach Wilson at quarterback.

NYJ RB Dalvin Cook - Week 2 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 2 at Dallas Cowboys
Dalvin Cook actually played 50% of the snaps on Monday and ended up with 16 touches for 59 yards. That's the good news. The bad news is Breece Hall looked healthy and the Jets lost QB Aaron Rodgers which will disappoint managers who were hoping to get more of a starting running back status through the first several weeks of the season.

This week is worse because the Cowboys are the opponent and everyone saw how good their defense was on Sunday night. Cook still has some value, but for Week 2, keep him on the bench.
