CHI TE Cole Kmet - Week 17 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 17 at Detroit Lions

Cole Kmet led all Bears players in targets last week with six, finishing 5-27-0. Kmet had that weird scoring streak midway through the season, but has now gone scoreless in five consecutive games. However with Darnell Mooney done for the year, and Chase Claypool being inactive lately, Kmet has been Justin Fields' top target. He's not the most productive player, but he usually offers at least something, which is more than a lot of tight ends can say this season. Kmet should be viewed within the TE10-TE15 range for Week 17 as he draws a favorable matchup vs. the Lions (30th aFPA).

CHI TE Cole Kmet - Week 16 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 16 vs. Buffalo Bills

With Darnell Mooney (IR) and Chase Claypool (knee) out, Cole Kmet is the only receiving threat in this offense with any sort of value. He led all Bears players in targets last week (5), finishing with four catches for 25 yards. Kmet has seen some value due to the Bears' lack of receiving threats, but he won't be an ideal play in Week 16. He gets a brutal matchup against a Bills defense that hasn't allowed a receiving touchdown to a tight end all season long. They've also given up the 7th-fewest total receiving yards to the position. Kmet has some limited appeal just because tight ends are awful this year, but he doesn't have a high ceiling in a tough matchup. We'd avoid if you can.

CHI TE Cole Kmet - Week 15 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 15 vs. Philadelphia Eagles

Cole Kmet led the team lead in targets (7) in Week 13 and had a productive outing, finishing 6-72. His targets and receptions were both season highs while his yards nearly matched his high of 74 on the season. It's a promising game considering it's the first full game without Darnell Mooney. With Mooney done for the year, we could envision Kmet taking over as the top receiving threat in this offense. Having said that, he does draw a tough matchup against the Eagles in Week 15. Still, with how shallow the tight end position is, Kmet at least offers some upside. He should be viewed as a top 10 option at tight end for Week 15.

CHI TE Cole Kmet - Week 13 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 13 vs. Green Bay Packers

Cole Kmet saw a team-high six targets last week from backup QB Trevor Siemian. Although he only finished with three receptions for 27 yards. Kmet had a three-game hot streak there, but he's gone back to being just an average tight end. Kmet still has some appeal as a low-end TE1 this week vs. the Packers (16th aFPA), but mostly because the position is so shallow this season, but we wouldn't expect anything incredible. It's also worth noting Kmet finished with a goose egg the last time he faced the Packers.

CHI TE Cole Kmet - Week 12 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 12 at New York Jets

Cole Kmet finally came back down to reality with a 3-35 performance last week. It wasn't the worst game ever, especially given the shallow nature of tight ends this season, but it was a huge drop-off from his scoring frenzy over the previous three games. We wouldn't be surprised if Kmet stayed scoreless again in Week 12 as he faces a Jets defense that hasn't allowed a receiving touchdown to a tight end all season. Which is an interesting stat considering the Jets have given up the 6th-most receiving yards to the position. Kmet should be viewed as a low-end TE1 option for Week 12.

CHI TE Cole Kmet - Week 11 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 11 at Atlanta Falcons

Is Cole Kmet a touchdown threat now? He had a 28-game streak where he failed to score a touchdown, but he's now scored five in his last three outings. His 4-74-2 stat line from last week was remarkable as it set season highs in receiving yards and targets (7). We'll see if Kmet can keep this going as he faces a favorable matchup against the Falcons this week. Atlanta has given up the third-most receptions to tight ends this season, although they've only given up one touchdown to the position. With Kmet's hot streak, the favorable matchup, and many teams on bye, Kmet ends up being a top five option at TE in Week 11.

CHI TE Cole Kmet - Week 10 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 10 vs. Detroit Lions

Cole Kmet had a 28-game streak where he failed to score a touchdown. Now he's scored three touchdowns in his last two games. Kmet had a strong outing overall last week as he finished 5-41-2. The two touchdowns are obviously good, but his five receptions are a season high and his 41 yards were the second-most in a game this season (his high is 45). He also surprisingly ran the ball twice for nine yards. We'll see if Kmet can keep this up as he draws a favorable matchup against the Lions in Week 10. The Lions have allowed the 4th-most average fantasy points to tight ends this season. Kmet is a viable option at tight end in Week 10, ranked around TE15.
