WAS QB Case Keenum - Week 6 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 6 at Miami Dolphins

Case Keenum was the 12th-highest scoring quarterback before his injury against the Giants. He'll return to action this week against the Dolphins, who are allowing the most fantasy points to quarterbacks this season. It feels weird to say Keenum might be a good fantasy play this week, but he could be. He had good performances to start the season and Miami's defense is terrible. If you're desperate for a starter, there are worse options than Keenum this week.

WAS QB Case Keenum - Week 4 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 4 at New York Giants

Case Keenum played both well and poorly in Week 3. For fantasy purposes, he finished with over 300 passing yards and two scores. But he also turned the ball over five times. Keenum is an interesting fantasy option because he's the 12th-highest scoring QB, and yet he's available in 86% of Yahoo leagues. He even gets a great matchup this week against the Giants who are allowing the fourth-most fantasy points to quarterbacks. QBs are averaging 346 passing yards against the Giants so far this season. He's dealing with a foot injury, but he is expected to play. There are better quarterbacks available this week, but Keenum could be a sneaky start if you're in need of someone for Week 4.

WAS QB Case Keenum - Week 3 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 3 vs. Chicago Bears

To everyone's surprise, Case Keenum is the fifth highest-scoring quarterback in fantasy so far in 2019. Despite his elite production, Keenum is owned in just 15% of Yahoo Fantasy leagues. And that makes sense. It's very difficult to buy into Keenum being one of the best fantasy quarterbacks. There are plenty of other QBs with much higher ceilings, and yet here Keenum is.

He may be a good bye-week filler option against certain matchups in 2019, but we wouldn't recommend having him as your full-time starter. Especially this week in a brutal matchup against the Bears. Expect to see Keenum drop way below fifth place after this week.

WAS QB Case Keenum - Week 2 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 2 vs. Dallas Cowboys

Case Keenum was surprisingly a great option last week, finishing with 380 yards, three touchdowns and no interceptions. Washington ended up relying on Keenum's arm once running back Derrius Guice left the game early due to injury. Oddly, Washington made Adrian Peterson inactive in Week 1, so the team must not have felt comfortable in giving any other backs carries. That should change in Week 2, so expect to see fewer pass attempts this week.

Keenum also gets a fairly tough matchup against the Cowboys this week. Expect much lower production from Keenum against Dallas, making him not really worth a start this week.

WAS QB Case Keenum - Week 1 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 1 at Philadelphia Eagles

The Redskins will be rolling out with Case Keenum this season instead of first-round rookie Dwayne Haskins. Of course, Haskins' presence looms over Keenum as we've seen enough rookies take over at some point in the season (just look at Baker Mayfield replacing Tyrod Taylor last year).

Keenum opens up against an Eagles defense which allowed the 10th-most fantasy points to opposing quarterbacks in 2018. Still, it's hard to get excited about Keenum considering he hasn't done a whole lot as a starter. Plus, Washington's options at receiver aren't too promising. Keenum is a poor option in fantasy.

DEN QB Case Keenum - Week 17 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 17 vs. Los Angeles Chargers

Last Monday in Oakland the Broncos fell behind by multiple scores in the first half, which meant Case Keenum had more pass attempts than the Broncos coaching staff would have preferred. He finished with 202 yards through the air and two TDs tosses – the first time since Week 12 that he threw for more than one score. In the Denver win in November at Los Angeles Keenum threw for 205 yards and he remains a QB2 option for the rematch.

DEN QB Case Keenum - Week 16 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 16 at Oakland Raiders

With the Browns defense stuffing the line to stop the Denver ground game last Saturday night, Case Keenum threw for his highest yardage total since Week 9. In the narrow loss, he attempted 48 passes and finished with 257 yards, but was picked off twice. While he did have a TD on the ground, Keenum hasn’t thrown for more than one score in five of the past six outings, a trend that will likely continue due to the Broncos depleted WR corp. In the September win over the Raiders Keenum had all his weapons and threw for 222 yards, but he’s no more than a QB2 option in the rematch.
