Scouting report

NYJ RB Breece Hall - Week 5 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 5 vs Minnesota Vikings (London Game)

Breece Hall couldn't get anything going against Denver's front. He was given 10 rush attempts and earned five targets, only managing 18 yards from scrimmage.

Hall is our RB8 and should be in all lineups, but the offense's state is a bit concerning through the first month of the season.

NYJ RB Breece Hall - Week 4 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 4 vs Denver Broncos

Through three games, Breece Hall has rushed for 170 yards and two touchdowns, adding 120 receiving yards on 16 receptions. He's averaging 4.7 yards per carry this season.

The Jets host the Denver Broncos at MetLife Stadium for their Week 4 matchup. The Broncos have been generous to opposing backfields. The totals don't look too high for any one running back but each of their opponents has a split backfield. Hall is the first workhorse they'll face. We project Hall to score 18.9 fantasy points, making him the top-ranked running back.

NYJ RB Breece Hall - Week 3 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 1 vs New England Patriots

Breece Hall comes in as our RB1 again this week. He'll likely stay there at least for as long as Christian McCaffrey is sidelined.

Hall has accounted for 80% of the rushes and 80% of the running back receptions through two weeks of the season, giving him one of the most valuable workloads in the league. It doesn't hurt that he's scored a touchdown in each game, either. He's locked and loaded every week he's on the field.

NYJ RB Breece Hall - Week 2 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 1 at Tennessee Titans

Breece Hall turned his 21 touches into 93 yards from scrimmage against a stingy 49ers defense in a Monday night loss. He's been given every opportunity to succeed and is unquestionably the feature back in this offense. Hall saw 82% of the snaps, 94% of the rush attempts, and 83% of the RB targets.

With Christian McCaffrey nursing an injury, Hall will be the overall RB1 for the foreseeable future.

NYJ RB Breece Hall - Week 1 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 1 at San Francisco 49ers

Breece Hall comes into the year with high expectations after an impressive sophomore season. Last year, he fell just shy of 1,000 rushing yards and added nearly 600 receiving yards on 95 targets in a year with, shall we say, mediocre quarterback play.

The Jets get Aaron Rodgers back and will head out to San Francisco to show off their improved offense. Hall comes into the week ranked as our RB2. Given the strength of the 49ers defense, he'll likely have to get there on volume. San Francisco allowed just one running back to break 100 yards last season. Luckily for us, Hall should be a lock for volume both on the ground and through the air and should be in every lineup.

NYJ RB Breece Hall - 2024 Fantasy Football Outlook

Fantasy Upside

Breece Hall is our RB2 heading into the heart of the draft season. His dual-threat ability makes him a very enticing target. We have him projected for under 200 carries, but he's tied for the most projected receptions at the position. If he can eclipse 70 receptions and go over 1,500 total yards he'll make fantasy managers very happy this year.

Fantasy Downside

Even with the state of the Jets' passing game last year, Hall only carried the ball more than 13 times in four games. Hall has an incredible ceiling when used properly. But if Garrett Wilson and Mike Williams get all of the attention in high-leverage situations we could see his touchdown and/or reception totals dwindle.

2024 Bottom Line

There are downside cases to be made for every running back. Very few backs possess the upside that Hall does with how he can contribute to the team. When he's available, he's well worth the click once Christian McCaffrey is gone.

NYJ RB Breece Hall - Week 17 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 17 at Cleveland Browns
Breece Hall had a monster game last week with 32 touches for 191 yards and two touchdowns. He was the offense for the Jets and was the top ranked back in both standard and PPR leagues. The 20 carries were the most since Week 5 and the 12 receptions were a career-high.

Hall faces the Browns who are ranked 13th in aFPA to running backs. Cleveland has one of the best defenses in the NFL and even though they have been vulnerable against the run at times, we expect them to focus on stopping the Jets running game.

Start Hall for Week 17, but only as a low-end RB1. He should get the touches again, but he won't have the production like last week against the Browns defense.
