Brandon Marshall To Miss Multiple Weeks?

South Florida Sun-Sentinel

Still no sign of Brandon Marshall out here at Miami Dolphins practice. He’ll show up on the injury report today, and it will be interesting to see how the Dolphins choose to classify him.

I don’t expect them to declare him out for Sunday’s game at Oakland. That’s just not how they roll. But no one should be surprised if Marshall misses not just this game but others down the road.

That’s how severely he appeared to injure his right hamstring making that spin move on Lance Briggs late in the first half against the Bears.

The Miami Dolphins returned to the practice field Monday morning, but they were without the services of three key starters, at least during the portion of practice open to the media.

Leading receiver Brandon Marshall, coming off a hamstring injury that knocked him out for the second half of the Bears loss on Thursday, was not at practice during the open portion. Marshall told WQAM's Michael Irvin on Friday that he would do everything in his power to get back to the field as soon as possible, but it's unclear if Marshall will be able to play against his old AFC West foes at Oakland on Sunday.

Dolphins WR Brandon Marshall backed Chad Henne during a radio interview on Tuesday. When talking to Michael Irvin on WQAM, Marshall said, "Those [criticisms] are probably coming from people who don't watch the game. Chad Henne is a guy who's more than capable of being an All-Pro quarterback. Again, it's not just him... It's not just one guy. He relies on everyone doing their job."

Miami Dolphins wide receiver Brandon Marshall has scored just once this season, but he ranks fourth in the NFL in receptions (47) and ninth in receiving yards (588).

That’s why the Ravens will pay special attention to the 6-foot-4, 230-pound Marshall. But defensive coordinator Greg Mattison said the defense is wary about assigning two players to shadow him.

“I don’t think you have to double him because if you double him, they’ve got another guy by the name of [Davone] Bess who’s pretty darn good,” Mattison said. “I don’t think you go into that ball game and say, ‘We’re going to double him on every play.’ But I know we do have to be proactive toward their top receivers during passing situations.”

Marshall caught just four passes for 24 yards in his only meeting with the Ravens, a 30-7 loss when he was a member of the Denver Broncos on Nov. 1, 2009.
