IND QB Anthony Richardson - Week 6 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 6 at Tennessee Titans

After missing Week 5 with an oblique injury, Anthony Richardson looks like he'll be back for Week 6 against the Titans. The Colts struggled a bit on offense during the three full games Richardson has played so far. On top of that, the Titans are currently the best defense in terms of passing yards allowed per game (124) and they are one of only six teams allowing a completion percentage under 50%. Richardson does add rushing value but the passing game has plenty of room for improvement. Richardson is a QB2 this week.

IND QB Anthony Richardson - Week 4 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 4 vs. Pittsburgh Steelers

It hasn't been the best of starts through the air for Anthony Richardson. His passing yards have gone down in each of the first three weeks, dipping to just 167 against the Bears in Week 3. He also threw a pair of interceptions and is already up to six on the year versus just three touchdowns. It doesn't get much easier this week against the Steelers, who are allowing the 5th-fewest passing yards per game (157.7). Richardson does still have rushing value -- he has rushed for at least 20 yards in all three games -- which does help bump his overall value up. But for now, we have Richardson as a high-end QB2 with upside.

IND QB Anthony Richardson - Week 3 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 3 vs. Chicago Bears

The rushing value helps from a fantasy perspective, but the early onset for Anthony Richardson has been a struggle this season. He has three touchdown passes but already four interceptions and he's completing less than half of his passes -- he was 50% passing in Week 2 against the Packers. Of course, last week was only his sixth game and second since returning from a shoulder injury that cut his rookie season short. The Bears have forced the most interceptions in the league since the start of the last season with 22. The good news for Richardson is that WR Josh Downs may be coming back this week from an ankle injury. The offense should start clicking more plus Richardson can still run the ball. He remains a low-end QB1.

IND QB Anthony Richardson - Week 2 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 2 at Green Bay Packers

Anthony Richardson had one of the biggest "wow" moments of Week 1 when he chucked a 60-yard touchdown bomb to Alec Pierce. He couldn't even step into the throw and still got the ball deep. In fact, both of his touchdowns were at least 50 yards. Richardson has a chance to be special. He threw two touchdown passes and rushed for another in a losing effort. We do have to note he was just 9/19 in Week 1, as most of his damage came on those two throws. This week, he gets the Packers who showed a strong defense at times last week against the Eagles. Thanks to his added rushing ability, Richardson remains a top-10 fantasy option this week.

IND QB Anthony Richardson - 2024 Fantasy Football Outlook

Fantasy Upside

Anthony Richardson is back from the shoulder injury that cost him most of his rookie season. But in the short time he did play, he was electric and brought plenty of hope to Colts fans. Not only does Richardson have a strong arm, but he also showed strong rushing ability, scoring four touchdowns on the ground in four games. Also, keep in mind that Gardner Minshew threw for 3,305 yards and 15 touchdowns with three rushing touchdowns. It's safe to think Richardson can easily surpass those numbers, especially with the weapons he has, a group that added Adonai Mitchell in the draft.

Fantasy Downside

A shoulder injury as a rookie is going to be cause for concern, especially for a quarterback who will move as much as Richardson does. Richardson only played in four games before his season came to an abrupt end. 2024 will be interesting to watch as hopefully Richardson can make it through the season healthy, as he looks right now.

2024 Bottom Line

A healthy Richardson will do fantasy damage through the air and on the ground. The Colts may continue to use Richardson at the goal line, similar to Jalen Hurts in Philadelphia. Having Michael Pittman, Josh Downs, and Mitchell to throw to will make life much easier for Richardson. Not too many quarterbacks have the fantasy upside that Richardson does this season.

IND QB Anthony Richardson - Week 5 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 5 vs. Tennessee Titans

Anthony Richardson has been a fantastic fantasy asset through three starts this season, including last week, when he threw for two touchdowns and ran in another in an overtime loss to the Rams. He now has accounted for seven touchdowns - three passing and four rushing - and has only thrown one interception in his young career. Richardson is averaging 7.7 carries and 43.7 rushing yards per game, giving a huge boost to his fantasy value in every outing.

Richardson has a great matchup this week against the Titans, who rank 25th in aFPA to opposing quarterbacks. Expect another busy day on the ground for the talented Richardson. Hopefully, he can improve on his 56.9% completion rate as the season progresses, but as long as those rushing totals continue to be there, he’ll remain a lock for fantasy value. Start him.

IND QB Anthony Richardson - Week 4 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 4 vs. Los Angeles Rams

Anthony Richardson looks like he's on track to start this week after missing last week with a concussion. Richardson has run for three touchdowns and thrown for another in about a game and a half as a starter, so his fantasy upside remains enormous based on his rushing production.

Assuming he starts this week, he has a tough matchup against a Rams defense that ranks seventh in aFPA to opposing quarterbacks this year. Still, Richardson should be able to find enough space to run the ball and he's lethal near the goal line. Fantasy managers should have a backup plan ready in case he's a late scratch, but if he's active, he should be in your lineup.
