Davante Adams suffered a hamstring injury during Sunday's game against the Lions, Matt Schneidman of The Athletic reports.

Related players: Allen Lazard, Marquez Valdes-Scantling and Malik Taylor

Fantasy Impact: 

Lazard, Valdes-Scantling and Taylor would see additional time if Adams has to miss Week 3. Adams left the game with a 3-36-0 line. Valdes-Scantling ended with 3-64-0 to lead WRs.

It looks like the progress Allen Lazard made with the Green Bay Packers late last season was not a fluke.

The third-year wideout from Iowa State began the 2020 campaign strong with four catches for 63 yards and a touchdown while playing 87% of the Packers snaps. Only Davante Adams, who played two more, took more snaps at wide receiver for Green Bay in its season-opening 43-34 win at Minnesota.

Fantasy Impact: 

That is an encouraging step for Lazard after he put up 35 receptions for 477 receiving yards and three scores in 2019. Lazard’s biggest play on Sunday came with 11:42 in the fourth when he reeled in a deep pass from Aaron Rodgers for a 38-yard gain before he lost his footing before getting in the end zone. Reports all offseason said Lazard had the trust of Rodgers and looked to be the favorite to take the WR2 role.

Packers WR Allen Lazard has been finding space in between the hashes and connecting with QB Aaron Rodgers. “Rodgers hits Lazard in the middle of the field” is something you can get used to hearing, tweeted Peter Bukowski of 247 Sports.

Fantasy Impact: 

Someone had to step up for the Packers at wide receiver, and Lazard is answering that call. Plenty of buzz surrounded him in the fantasy industry after Lazard established a rapport with Rodgers in 2019. It looks like the trust has grown and gives the Packers a needed weapon in the middle of the field. Lazard is still available well into the later rounds.

The Athletic reports that Packers WR Allen Lazard's performance during training camp has solidifed the coaching staff's belief that he can be Aaron Rodgers' second receiving option behind Davante Adams.

Fantasy Impact: 

The Packers have been slammed all offseason for failing to address the glaring weakness in their wide receiver room, but reports about Lazard's performance in camp have been positive and Aaron Rodgers has complimented Lazard's improvement and professionalism. Davante Adams is still set to command a massive target share, but whoever emerges in the passing game behind him should have plenty of opportunity to produce with the lack of established playmakers on the Green Bay offense. Lazard is interesting as a late-round flier.
