NYG RB Alfred Morris - Week 17 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 17 vs. Dallas Cowboys

Alfred Morris has been sneaking in some carries as a change-of-pace option to Wayne Gallman, but this is still mostly Gallman’s job, so fantasy owners should ignore Morris in the final week of the season. Leave him on waivers.

SF RB Alfred Morris - Week 12 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 12 at Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Alfred Morris had only 19 yards before the bye last week against the Giants, despite carrying the ball nine times. Morris is unlikely to get a lot of work against the Buccaneers this week, as Tampa Bay has the ability to score points offensively. The 49ers won’t be able to ground out the second half by just feeding Morris. He should probably be on waivers in most leagues.

Week 10 vs. New York Giants

Alfred Morris had 13 yards on seven carries last week against the Raiders. While he’s been taking a backseat to Raheem Mostert the past few weeks, Mostert’s season-ending injury should open the door for Morris to challenge for double-digit touches as a change-of-pace option behind Matt Breida. Still, it’s hard to trust his workload enough to warrant starting him in most league formats, and he’s a speculative add at best as long as Breida is active.

Week 9 vs. Oakland Raiders

Alfred Morris had six change-of-pace carries behind Matt Breida last week, gaining 28 yards. Morris is fighting with Raheem Mostert for backup work behind Breida, making it hard to trust him. That last time Breida missed time, Mostert was the one who benefitted. This week, despite a nice matchup against the Raiders, fantasy owners should be cautious counting on Morris, even if Breida is out.

SF RB Alfred Morris - Week 8 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 8 at Arizona Cardinals

Alfred Morris got some carries last week against the Rams after being shut out of the game the week before in favor of Raheem Mostert. Morris didn’t do much with the opportunity though, rushing for only 25 yards on nine carries and offering nothing in the passing game. Mostert was more productive, averaging 8.4 yards on seven carries, and he was targeted four times in the passing game. This may end up being a committee when all is said and done, but until we see Morris thriving, it’s hard to recommend starting him. He’s likely better on waivers.

Week 6 at Green Bay Packers

Alfred Morris should benefit from Matt Breida likely missing some time with an ankle injury. Morris carried the ball 18 times and caught three passes for a total of 91 yards last week against the Cardinals and he should be in line for a full workload again this week with Breida out.

The Packers have allowed the ninth-fewest fantasy points per game to opposing running backs this year, and the 49ers may fall behind early and need to throw the ball to keep up. Still, with Morris’ potential for a full workload, it’s very possible he puts up RB2 numbers as the primary starter, and he’s a nice bye-week and injury-replacement option in most leagues.

SF RB Alfred Morris - Week 5 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 5 vs. Arizona Cardinals

Alfred Morris had only four carries for 14 yards against the Chargers last week, as the 49ers leaned on C.J. Beathard and Matt Breida for much of the game. Morris has potential as the two-down back, especially in touchdown-only leagues, but with the likelihood that the 49ers are going to trail a lot this season, it’s hard to trust his workload. The Cardinals offense has stunk this season as well, so it’s possible this game stays close enough to keep feeding Morris, but he should remain on the bench in most leagues. If Matt Breida’s shoulder keeps him out of action, Morris will get a small bump in value, but he’s not as talented in the passing game.
