After the Eagles decided to move on from David Akers, a certain sense of security was lost, and won’t really be regained until the rookie out of Nebraska proves himself in a couple big spots. Lehigh is not going to make or break Henery, but he missed too many kicks to leave camp feeling warm and fuzzy about the position.

Andy Reid was asked Tuesday if he is comfortable with the kicker situation, and if he would contemplate bringing in some competition.

“I’m good with it,“ Reid replied. “I know there’s going to be a good day and a bad day and I understand that right now. I always go back and mention the greatest kicker, if not one of the best kickers in Eagles history, was David Akers. And David was released from a team and brought here as a backup and you saw him grow. So it’s important, something you learn from that is give [Henery] an opportunity here; give him an opportunity to grow here and the more balls he kicks under pressure the better.”
