Although Brett Favre's passing numbers are down, ESPN analyst and former Eagles quarterback Ron Jaworski sees no difference in the quarterback from last year.

Jaworski sees problems around Favre instead of with Favre.

'Maybe a couple of missed hot routes or a couple of bad breaks with interceptions, but his level of confidence throwing the ball the first few weeks has been great,' said Jaworski, an ESPN analyst and former NFL quarterback. 'The offensive line has to become a lot more firm. Brett is not getting the protection he needs. He's a guy in duress.'

Jaworski said teams are showing wide blitzes on the Vikings to pressure tackles Phil Loadholt and Bryant McKinnie. The Vikings are on pace to allow 32 sacks, two shy of last year's 34.

Training camp is where quarterbacks "develop feel" with receivers, Jaworski said, which might explain Favre's heavy reliance on Shiancoe. Tight ends are the ultimate bailout target for struggling quarterbacks.

Favre has targeted Shiancoe 16 times this season, four more than any other Vikings pass catcher.
