Instead of having Quarterback Mark Sanchez just stand on the sidelines during the Jets' last preseason game against the Eagles, , coach Rex Ryan is going to let his second-year quarterback call some plays via the walkie-talkie, a la Brian Schottenheimer.

The idea is to expose Sanchez to the coaches' perspective of the game, learning why and how certain plays are called. Ryan said he used to do it in Baltimore on defense, letting LB Ray Lewis and S Ed Reed call plays in the preseason. They gave it up, he said, when they realized it's not as easy as it looks.
