According to NFL.com, Rams running back Steven Jackson opened up about his reported April surgery to repair a herniated disc with St. Louis-area reporters Tuesday, saying he’s about four weeks into an eight-week rehab process. Jackson, who said he got immediate relief from nerve pain following the surgery, is currently working out in a pool as he makes his way back to running and cutting on the field.

“The surgery, really, was up to me,” Jackson said. “I decided to have the surgery, because I was still in the gray area of needing the surgery or not going with the surgery. I met with three specialists around the country. No one definitely said ‘Get the surgery,’ but looking at the season and being able to fully recover from the injury and being able to go to training camp, April was kind of the deadline.”

Fantasy Impact:

This is great news for fantasy GMs interested in targeting Jackson. Keep in mind the #'s he produced in 2009 while dealing with the aforementioned back pain.
