Zorn: 'Not Good News' on Cooley

Jim Zorn said at his press conference Monday that tight end Chris Cooley’s injured ankle will remain in a protective boot for another 10 days.

“That is not good news for me,” Zorn said. “That will set us back a little bit with him.”

Zorn said that he had not yet talked to Cooley’s doctor to discuss how long the rehab would take after the boot was removed. He did not rule out putting Cooley on injured reserve.

It was hoped that Cooley would be able to remove the boot after a visit to the doctor Monday. He suffered a broken ankle against the Eagles on October 26 and has surgery to insert three pins into the bone a few days later.

Zorn officially announced what Comcast SportsNet reported this morning—that running back Ladell Betts will miss the rest of the season after suffering torn ligaments in his left knee on Sunday against the Dallas Cowboys.

While Zorn was not yet certain that he would require surgery or if he would be put on the season-ending injured reserve list, he did say that he does think that Betts’ injuries will end his season.

“I’m not going to put him [on IR] today, but I don’t expect to have him back,” Zorn said.
