Lions RB Jahvid Best suffered concussion

Detroit Lions running back Jahvid Best missed practice Sunday after suffering a concussion during the first series of Friday's preseason game in Cleveland.

Best caught a swing pass from quarterback Matthew Stafford on the first play of the game and took a helmet-to-helmet hit along the sideline from Browns cornerback Joe Haden. He stayed in for two more plays, the second being a fumble, and was then removed from the game.

The second-year running back has dealt with health problems, including two turf toes that limited him as a rookie and a concussion in college that ended his junior season prematurely. Best, who played at Cal, entered the NFL draft after his junior season.

"We'll take it slow with him just based on his situation from a couple years ago and we'll just be very, very cautious with him," Detroit head coach Jim Schwartz said. "But we should have him back on the practice field soon."

Fantasy Impact:

Best ought to be okay for the start of the season. He is a bit of a boom or bust pick because of his past durability issues, but if he can stay healthy, he's an unquestioned boomer.
