he Chiefs activated RB Kolby Smith from the physically unable to perform list Saturday and released veteran WR Bobby Engram.
The activation of Smith, who suffered a season-ending knee injury in Week 9 last season, gives the Chiefs an experienced option in the backfield while Larry Johnson serves a suspension. Smith, a third-year pro, has played in 23 career games, including nine starts, and has more career carries than Jamaal Charles, who’s expected to start in Johnson’s place Sunday against the Jaguars.
