Cards RB Wells could be game-time decision

If I ever become seriously ill, I'm driving straight to the closest headquarters of an NFL team. Everyone there is always getting better.

That's the standard answer from players and coaches when you ask, "How is so and so?"

I asked Beanie Wells today how he was feeling and he quickly replied: "I'm getting better.'

As it turned out, the swelling in Wells' right knee this week was caused by an adverse reaction to an injection of Orthovisc on Monday. It's a common procedure for those returning from surgery or otherwise experiencing knee pain, said coach Ken Whisenhunt. The injection is designed to provide additional lubrication in the joint.

In Wells' case, it caused the joint to swell and he was able to practice only a limited basis on Wednesday and Thursday. Those are the two heaviest practice days of the week, and Wells, in his second season, can ill afford to miss them.
