Burress future?

The Jets, Bucs and Bears have shown interest in WR Plaxico Burress, but the uncertainty that remains about his availability could easily scare teams away. Jail time is no longer the most immediate threat to his playing time. Roger Goodell is now first up with a chance to knock Burress down.

Burress will be in Manhattan Criminal Court tomorrow, but instead of his status being clarified with a plea arrangement or trial date for 2010, his attorney says the case will be adjourned until September.

Will any team sign him, bring him to training camp, count on him and then find out in September that he has reached a plea agreement to serve jail time that presumably would cost him at least the rest of the season? On the other hand, perhaps there will be another adjournment in September, or an agreement that jail time will not be served until after the 2009 season, or that there will be a trial in 2010. It appears Burress' goal is to do everything he can to get on the field this season and delay his legal woes until 2010.
