Bill Belichick isn't a "timetable" guy. Ask him about a player's injury status and his stock answer is that the player is "day to day." So his comments regarding receiver Wes Welker on "Patriots All-Access" were notable. "He's on schedule," Belichick told fill-in host Scott Zolak. "Hopefully with no setbacks, he'll have an opportunity to get out there and compete at some point this year."
The mystery of Wes Welker's return will only be solved when we see him on the field. "Some point this year" could mean opening day, or it could be much later. Welker is usually a reliable fantasy player, but he carries plenty of risks this year, as we don't know when he'll be available and he may not play at his usual level. He's worth a pick on draft day, but make sure you get plenty of receiver depth.
