NFL Media's Jeff Darlington reported Tuesday that Tampa Bay's second-year tight end is expected to miss four to six weeks with the strained shoulder he suffered in Sunday's win over the New Orleans Saints, per a source aware of injury.
It's a rough situation for Seferian-Jenkins, who was showing promise after a quiet rookie season. He was already shaping up as a favorite target for rookie passer Jameis Winston, who will miss his playmaking tight end.
The given timetable would keep Seferian-Jenkins out for Sunday's game against the Texans along with upcoming tilts against the Panthers and Jaguars. Tampa's bye lands in Week 6, making their Week 7 showdown with the Redskins a logical target for ASJ's earliest possible return. In his place, Brandon Myers and Luke Stocker will take the majority of snaps, with Myers operating as the more reliable pass-catcher. Stocker is a blocker. Tampa also elevated Cameron Brate off the practice squad to pad the position.
