The San Francisco 49ers have identified Dolphins QB Ryan Fitzpatrick as a threat in the running game, according to Matt Barrows of The Athletic. "Still, Fitzpatrick’s total shows he’s not a total slouch on the hoof," wrote Barrows. "And even that middling praise is a concern for the 49ers, who have shown little ability to halt quarterbacks when they decide to run. General manager John Lynch said Thursday there’s been a “big focus” on stopping quarterback runs this week."
“He’s 38 years old,” 49ers GM John Lynch, adding a year to Fitzgerald’s age (the quarterback’s birthday is next month), said on KNBR radio. “But he still moves incredibly well and he’s really adept at getting outside the pocket and making plays.”
The 49ers have allowed more rushing yards to quarterbacks than running backs this season.
2020 has been an odd year, and an entire article dedicated to focused on Fitzpatrick's rushing prowess (with a focus on the 49ers' inability to stop running QBs) just adds to it. Quarterbacks with rushing upside have a lot of value in fantasy football, making 'Fitzmagic' a weekly DFS target and streamer candidate in season-long leagues.
