Fantasy Football Sneaky Starts: Week 9

M. Floyd

As injuries pile up and the bye weeks continue, all but the luckiest fantasy owners will at some point need to find the proverbial diamond in the rough -- a waiver wire or bench player who is capable of putting up some points in a pinch. This weekly feature is dedicated to that part of fantasy football. It's not pretty, but it's part of the game.

QUARTERBACKS

Matt Cassel, Chiefs (vs. MIA)
Over his last five games, Cassel is averaging 223 passing yards and 1.6 TDs. He had a bad game against the Raiders in W7 (161 yards, 2 INT), but has otherwise been solid of late. The Dolphins have allowed the 3rd-most Adjusted FP to QBs this year, so this is a great matchup, and it's at home.
Andy Dalton, Bengals (@ TEN)
In his last four games, Dalton has averaged 227 yards and 1.5 TDs. Meanwhile, the Titans have given up the 7th-most Adjusted FP to QBs on the season. Dalton is still widely available, which is surprising since he's averaging just 0.5 fantasy points less than Philip Rivers.
