I was excited about this defensive back class, especially the safeties ahead of the draft. Then the draft played out and threw everything out the window. The prospects I liked ended up on teams that had established talent with murky paths to snaps.

Last season five safeties appeared in over 600 defensive snaps; Jalen Pitre, Jaquan Brisker, Kerby Joseph, Rodney Thomas, and Kyle Hamilton. That number could decrease this season, but here are the rookie defensive backs to have roles in their defense and be IDP contributors in 2023.
