NBA Player Prop Bets (March 1, 2023)

A nine-game slate tonight and with eight teams on the second night of back-to-backs, make sure to keep an eye on coach quotes and the injury reports in case there are possibilities of late scratches that throw off your handicap of a prop. The trickle-down effect of the deals at the deadline, the ensuing buyout market, and crystalizing team intentions for the rest of the season are the focus of the props today.

Today’s NBA Player Prop Bets (March 1, 2023)

Chris Paul 10+ Assists (+155 at DraftKings)

Kevin Durant’s return is the biggest story in the NBA tonight, and one of the biggest questions surrounding his return is the ripple effects on the Suns. Chris Paul will likely be affected but in a positive fashion in the assist department.

Durant will be on a minutes limit, but when on the floor, he is one of the most efficient superstars in this generation. He does not need the ball constantly but will torch defenses off the catch or on a pull-up off one or two dribbles, which would still count as an assist for Paul. Also, his gravity should take a little attention off Deandre Ayton and give him more room to work at the basket leading to potential assists for Paul as well as Devin Booker getting slightly less attention paid to him.

In the matchup earlier this season against Charlotte, Paul had 11 assists on 20 potential assists in only 27 minutes due to the game being a blowout. The proof of concept with a game that is likely to get out of hand tonight is big. The Hornets are allowing the seventh most assists to PGs the last two weeks, and Paul should be looking to pass more as well, with a solid defender in Dennis Smith Jr. likely guarding him as opposed to the injured LaMelo Ball.

The number is off compared to the market, where +125 and +130 are the more common numbers, and they make more sense considering Paul has gone over this number in four of his last eight games and is averaging 9.9 assists since returning to the lineup just over a month ago.

Risk: 1 unit on DraftKings to win 1.55 units. (Playable to +130)
