Streaming Tight Ends: Week 5 Targets
Are you bummed with how your roster turned out in the tight end department, or perhaps you had streaming in mind when constructing your teams this draft season? Don’t forget that the Dolphins and Lions have byes in Week 5, as well. No matter how you got here, I have you covered. As a strategy, streaming aims to find players with above-average matchups, which can hopefully translate to TE1 production for your fantasy squad.
For streaming purposes, 4for4’s Schedule-Adjusted Fantasy Points Allowed (aFPA) is a metric we rely heavily on to determine weekly matchup strength. As the season continues to progress and more data is available, aFPA becomes more and more reliable, using rolling 10-week data. Targets and efficiency metrics are also considered when choosing weekly streamers.
Jack Doyle was my best streamer in Week 4, coming in as the fantasy TE11 on the week with 12.20 PPR points, followed by Noah Fant at TE15. Our goal in all this is starting tight end results and after four weeks, 4for4’s optimal streamer has scored 50.3 PPR points, which equates to TE8 numbers on the season.
In order to provide advice you can actually implement, candidates for streaming must be owned in no more than 40% of Yahoo! fantasy leagues.
Top Streaming Picks
Dawson Knox (Bills) @ Titans
He’s strung together two weeks with at least three catches for 58 yards, so that’s something. Knox may not light up your roster to the tune of 33 points, but he’s starting to become a decent part of the Bills' offense and could be a nice streamer in Tennessee this week. The Titans surrendered a Week 3-high 22 PPR points to Austin Hooper and are ranked 22nd in TE aFPA on the season.
Knox is currently only on 14% of Yahoo! rosters, so plugging him in this week is most likely an option in your 10-, 12- or even 14-team leagues.
