IDP Waiver Wire: Week 13 Targets

This late into the season it’s time to get more strategic with your pickups as the cupboard is starting to look pretty bare and the stakes are getting higher and higher with the playoffs looming. That being said, it is time to execute some creative thinking when scouring this week’s suggested players.

Linebackers

A.J. Johnson - Denver Broncos

Since Week 4 Johnson has cemented himself as a three-down linebacker for the Broncos, averaging 7.3 tackles per game over that span, further padding those stats with 1.5 sacks and an interception. He can be relied upon for some low-end LB2 production thanks to his tackle floor and is a solid pickup if you’re looking for a consistent point scorer to cement your playoff bid.

Za’Darius Smith - Green Bay Packers

If you’re making a late run at a playoff spot and needing to be more aggressive with your lineup choices, then pass-rushing outside linebackers have to come into the equation as waiver wire targets. Smith is certainly someone to consider as he has been a threat off the edge in his first season in Green Bay, racking up 10 sacks through 11 games including four where he had a multi-sack return. While Smith is a boom or bust pickup, he does have four games with at least five total tackles so he’s not as much of a threat of a zero as other edge-rushers.
