IDP Waiver Wire: Week 7 Pickups and Matchup Plays
Nothing in the way of major injuries this week. There was a big roster move, however, as the 49ers released long-time ILB NaVorro Bowman. I'll touch on him in the linebacker section of the waiver wire pickups. The season continues to roll on as we hit Week 7. Some guys have been underperforming, like AJ Klein, so it's time to make some decisions with trade deadlines looming. As we head into Week 7, below are my recommended waiver wire additions in IDP leagues, followed by some matchups I like based my rankings.
Week 7 teams on bye: Detroit and Houston
IDP Week 7 Waiver Wire Pickups
David Irving, DE, Dallas Cowboys (45 snaps/75%)
Irving missed the first four weeks due to a suspension but returned with a vengeance in Week 5. He notched 5 tackles and 2 sacks, while also generating 3 QB hits. Playing alongside DeMarcus Lawrence will help, as most of the attention is going to be on the Cowboys sack leader. If Irving went un-noticed because of the bye, now is a good week to grab him.
Alex Okafor, DE, New Orleans Saints (55 snaps/68%)
Okafor has posted 2 sacks in the last three weeks and has become an integral part of the Saints' defensive line and pass rush. The Saints dominated the Lions' offensive line and that trend looks to continue against Green Bay. Okafor should be an add in big-play formats thanks to his threat to get to the quarterback and cause turnovers.
Mario Edwards, DE, Oakland Raiders (42 snaps/65%)
Although Edwards didn't get a sack in Week 6, he did notch 6 tackles. On the year, he's just behind Khalil Mack for the team lead in sacks. He's been a menace around the line of scrimmage, posting 4 tackles for loss in addition to 7 quarterback hits. As long as Mack is around, Edwards should see single-teams from opposing offensive lines.
