Streaming Defenses: Week 2 Fantasy Football Targets

Generally, defenses have to be available on the waiver wire in at least 40% of Yahoo fantasy leagues to be eligible as a streaming option. This ensures we are talking about defenses that are readily available.

Last week, the Jacksonville Jaguars and Los Angeles Rams finished with 28 points and were the DST1 in most scoring formats. The Philadelphia defense posted 22 points, putting them on the board as the DST4, and overall, our Week 1 targets averaged 14 points.

Continue to target a defense with a home matchup or facing a below average or rookie QB. Week 2 is here, so let's look the defensive options we're targeting this week:

Oakland Raiders vs. NYJ

The Jets are taking their lack of talent to the west coast for a tilt with the Raiders this week. As long as defenses on the wire are available against the Jets, we're going to continue to target them.

Mario Edwards and Justin Ellis combined for a sack, but lined up against a solid Titans offensive line. They'll have some easier sledding against the Jets and Josh McCown this week. Denico Autry is also capable of generating pressure.

I don't care where Khalil Mack or Bruce Irvin lineup, they are a threat to get to the QB. They, too, were held in check against Tennessee and look to bounce back against an average Jets' offensive line. Hopefully, Oakland leaves Mack lined up on the right since that's where he was more efficient when rushing the passer.

Karl Joseph led the team in tackles and joined fellow safety, Reggie Nelson, in getting a defended pass in coverage. TJ Carrie and Sean Smith have big play upside this week against a poor passing attack.

The Jets are traveling to the west coast, so they're already at a disadvantage (outside of not being super-talented). The Jets are still one of the offenses you want to pick on and among the tops in the league in aFPA to opposing defenses. Oakland's ownership might go up, but they can be had in 61 percent of leagues.
