Streaming Quarterbacks: Week 12 Targets
Last week was kind to us streamers. Our picks last week averaged nearly 21 points, which would have been good enough for QB1. Both Alex Smith and Colin Kaepernick finished as QB1s in their own right. As we finish out the regular season, it is time to know your team. If you are looking at low odds of a playoff berth, get wild and try a few risky QB plays. If you have been crushing it, stay safe with the Flacco and Alex Smith picks.
On the season, our optimal streaming QB is scoring 22.5 points per game, good enough for QB10 overall. Our streaming choices have averaged 19.02 points through eleven weeks. That would be QB19.
As always, I focus on QB points per game and the Vegas implied team totals to determine good QB streamers, then I add in their matchup for the week. For opposing defenses, we utilize Schedule-Adjusted Fantasy Points allowed (aFPA).
Week 12 QB Streaming Targets
Colin Kaepernick (SF) @ MIA
Last week, I put it this way: “Colin Kaepernick presents another risky streaming play with high upside.” Nothing has changed. This week, he faces a middle-of-the-road Miami defense, which is giving up 15.8 aFPA to opposing QBs. Vegas hates the 49ers this week, but I have two reasons for overlooking that: First, I disagree – Miami is not a good team and should not be favored by more than a touchdown, and second, Kap looks to be resistant to game script. He is scoring fantasy points regardless of his team’s final outcome. I’ll keep riding the wave.
Kaepernick is available in 83% of ESPN public leagues, and he is my optimal QB streamer of the week.
