Streaming Quarterbacks: Week 8 Targets
It was all horribly reminiscent of Case Keenum.
I maintain that rolling out Kirk Cousins in an objectively fantastic matchup at home against a porous Tennessee Titans secondary came with a superbly high fantasy ceiling. Plugging in Washington's signal caller also came with a floor that went below the floor.
It was the bench.
Cousins threw yet another pick in the first half of Sunday's game, officially ending the patience of Washington coaches who had talked openly about benching Cousins for the great Colt McCoy. He was on pace for more than 300 yards, but it didn't matter. He was -- like Case Keenum last year in a fantastic matchup against Oakland -- a cautionary tale in selecting quarterback streamers with ranges of outcomes that include total fantasy disaster.
I can't remember a worse week for streaming signal callers than this past week. It'll forever be burned into my degenerate memory. Besides Carson Palmer's fine and dandy stat line, my streaming options summarily tanked.
Our 2014 streamers are now averaging 13.7 fantasy points per game, or QB19 numbers. Optimal quarterback streaming picks are notching 22.2 points, or QB2 numbers.
I'm going to be a tad more conservative from here on out, and focus on quarterbacks' floors as much as I fixate on their ceilings while using schedule-adjusted fantasy points and fantasy points per attempt (FPAT) to evaluate matchups.
