IND WR T.Y. Hilton - Week 5, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

T.Y. Hilton - Week 5 vs. Baltimore

T.Y. Hilton had his first 100-yard game last week against Tennessee. He reached the 100-yard milestone on six receptions and he now has at least five catches in every game this season.

He'll get a favorable matchup this week against the Baltimore Ravens. The Ravens don't allow many touchdowns to wideouts, but they allow plenty of yards. In the past two games they've allowed 489 yards on 31 catches.

Hilton should be used as a low WR2 or high WR3 this week.

T.Y. Hilton - Week 4 vs. Tennessee Titans

T.Y. Hilton had his best game of the season last week in a favorable matchup. He didn't go crazy, as he is able to do. Instead he caught five passes for 80 yards in a Colts blowout victory. He's been the most targeted receiver on the team so far this season, but he doesn't have great numbers.

It should also be noted Hilton is battling an ankle injury. He practiced fully on Thursday and should be active on Sunday, but he won't be 100 percent.

This week he faces a stingy Titans defense. Tennessee has been tough this season to opposing wideouts, and they've been tough to Hilton in his four career games against them. He has yet to catch a touchdown against the Titans and he's been held to 50 yards or less in every matchup.

Considering his slow start and his difficult matchup, Hilton should be used as a WR3 this week.

IND WR T.Y. Hilton - Week 3, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

T.Y. Hilton - Week 3 vs. Jacksonville

Through two games T.Y. Hilton has had 22 targets, 11 in each game. He led the team last week as he caught six passes for 65 yards. Unfortunately his big-play ability didn't take form as he failed to do much after the catch. Hilton wasn't too impressive in Week 1 either, making this a slow start for the third year WR.

The good news for Hilton is he draws a favorable matchup in Week 3 against Jacksonville. The Jaguars haven't been able to stop opponents' offenses in the first two weeks of the season.

Hilton owners shouldn't be too concerned with his fairly slow start. His 22 targets lead the team. Luck will continue to try to get him the ball. In the final game last year against Jacksonville Hilton had one of his best performances. He caught 11 balls for 155 yards.

In a favorable matchup Hilton should be viewed as a high WR3.

IND WR T.Y. Hilton - Week 2, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

T.Y. Hilton - Week 2 vs. Philadelphia

T.Y. Hilton is known for his game changing speed, but it wasn't on display against the Broncos in Week 1. He caught five passes and only turned it into 41 yards. His longest reception was nine yards. While those stats aren't entirely encouraging, Hilton was targeted 11 times (second to only Reggie Wayne).

Hilton owners will be saying thank you very much for his second week matchup. The Eagles allowed the most fantasy points to wideouts a year ago and didn't show many signs of improvement against Jacksonville in Week 1. If the Colts get in another high scoring game Hilton should see another load of targets coming his way.

In a favorable matchup Hilton should be viewed as a WR3 option in both PPR and standard. There's always optimism in starting Hilton that he'll have one of his huge performances and this week could be one of them.

T.Y. Hilton - Week 1 vs. Denver Broncos

Last season Andrew Luck threw for 228 yards and had three passing touchdowns. Unfortunately for T.Y. Hilton, Luck's big game didn't result in a big game for him. The speedy Colts wideout only caught two balls for 27 yards against Denver. He was out-produced by Darrius Heyward-Bey who finished with 74 total yards and a touchdown.

Hilton has been a major boom-or-bust player in his first two seasons. He has the potential for a 100-yard, multi-touchdown performance any week of the season. If the Broncos plan to use Aqib Talib on Reggie Wayne it could open up some passes for Hilton.

He should be viewed as a low WR2 or high-end WR3 in Week 1.

IND WR T.Y. Hilton - 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Fantasy Upside

T.Y. Hilton developed into a better all-around receiver last year. He was relied on a lot more after Reggie Wayne went down with injury and improved upon his rookie numbers in receptions and yards.

He started to catch fire near the end of the season. During the last three games (including the postseason) he averaged 160 receiving yards. He has incredible speed and can turn any catch into a touchdown.

Fantasy Downside

Hilton won’t be the main target in Indianapolis anymore. He now has to share the ball with Wayne, Hakeem Nicks and Dwayne Allen. There will be plenty to targets to go around, but Hilton may not improve on his 82 receptions from a season ago.

Another problem for Hilton is his inconsistency. In 2013 he had nine games with 46 yards or less and five with over 120 yards. He also only scored touchdowns in two games last year during the regular season.

Bottom Line

Hilton always has the chance to have a huge game, but his boom-or-bust stats knock him down to low WR2, high WR3 range. If you can predict when Hilton will have his blowup performances (like his 7 rec, 121-yard, 3 TD game vs. Houston) you’ll be in good shape.
