MIN WR Stefon Diggs - Week 4 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 4 at Chicago Bears

Stefon Diggs has struggled to make much happen this season. He's caught just six passes through three games in 2019 for a total of 101 yards. Once a PPR machine, Diggs has finished his games with two, one and three receptions, respectively. He gets what should be a tough matchup against the Bears this week, although he lit Chicago up a season ago. He went 13-126-1 in his first game and 8-47-1 in his second. But this is a new year, and Diggs shouldn't be viewed as much more than a WR3/WR4 in Week 4.

MIN WR Stefon Diggs - Week 3 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 3 vs. Oakland Raiders

Stefon Diggs had a healthy seven targets in Week 2, but caught just one pass all game. Thankfully that catch was a 49-yard touchdown, but three receptions through two games is not what we expected from Diggs. If anything, Diggs made a name for himself early on in his career because he caught a lot of passes for little yards. In 2019, it's been the opposite.

He should play well this week in a favorable matchup against the Raiders. Oakland is giving up the fourth-most fantasy points to opposing wideouts this season. We like Diggs as a solid WR2 option in Week 3.

MIN WR Stefon Diggs - Week 2 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 2 at Green Bay Packers

Stefon Diggs couldn't get much going last week, mostly due to the fact that Minnesota threw the ball just 10 times. Diggs finished with two catches for 37 yards, highlighted by a 31-yard grab. Diggs is still a talented wideout, and Minnesota should start passing the ball more than 10 times, especially this week against Green Bay. His Week 1 game wasn't great, but Diggs should bounce back. We like him as a solid WR2 option against the Packers.

MIN WR Stefon Diggs - Week 1 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 1 vs. Atlanta Falcons

Stefon Diggs proved there's room for two playmaking wideouts in the same offense. Diggs joined Adam Thielen in catching 100+ passes and going for 1,000+ yards. He also finished with nine touchdowns in 2018, a new career-high. He also played well under new offensive coordinator Kevin Stefanski as he caught a touchdown pass in every game after Stefanski took over.

He gets a chance to show off his skills in Week 1 in a favorable matchup against the Falcons. Atlanta gave up the fifth-most fantasy points to opposing wideouts in 2018. Diggs should be viewed as a strong WR2 play this week.

MIN WR Stefon Diggs - 2019 Fantasy Football Outlook

Fantasy Upside
Stefon Diggs had a career year in 2018, setting new highs in receptions (102), yards (1,021) and touchdowns (9). He saw 149 targets last season, despite playing with another top-tier wideout in Adam Thielen. He’s a surprising touchdown machine, finishing with 17 scores in his last two seasons. He also scored in every game after Kevin Stefanski took over offensive coordinator duties.

Fantasy Downside
While Diggs scored in every game under Stefanski, his overall production dropped. He went from averaging 70 yards per game to just 35. He also saw about three fewer targets per game with Stefanski. Expect Minnesota to rely more on the ground game in 2019 now that Dalvin Cook is healthy and Stefanski is in charge.

2019 Bottom Line
Diggs is too talented of a receiver to fall off completely, but a slight dropoff in production should be expected this season. Diggs’ numbers didn’t fall off as hard as Thielen’s did with the offensive coordinator switch, but it’s still concerning to see any change. Diggs is still a great option to have in 2019, and can be viewed as a low-end WR1 or a top-end WR2.

MIN WR Stefon Diggs - Week 17 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 17 vs. Chicago Bears

Stefon Diggs finished with just 10 yards on two catches last week, but he did score for the second game in a row. He faces a Bears defense he abused earlier in the year (13 receptions, 126 yards, touchdown) but we'll be surprised if he puts up those numbers again. Still, the fact he's capable of putting up those numbers makes him at least a WR2 choice in Week 17.

MIN WR Stefon Diggs - Week 16 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 16 at Detroit Lions

Stefon Diggs had a solid 4-49-1 last week as the gap between him and Adam Thielen lessens. He's now scored in four of his last six games while averaging 82 yards in that span. He gets a decent matchup this week against the Lions, a matchup he missed earlier in the season due to injury. We like him as a solid WR1 against Detroit.

MIN WR Stefon Diggs - Week 15 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 15 vs. Miami Dolphins

Stefon Diggs led the Vikings in receiving last week, finishing with 76 yards on four catches. That's now three of the last four games where Diggs has led Minnesota in receiving, which is interesting considering Adam Thielen's strong start. With Diggs starting to get more looks, it's easier to view him as a WR1 moving forward.

He'll be around that range this week in a favorable matchup against the Dolphins. Miami is allowing the eighth-most passing yards per game (262), so keep Diggs in your lineups in Week 15.

MIN WR Stefon Diggs - Week 14 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 14 at Seattle Seahawks

Stefon Diggs actually led the Vikings in receiving last week with 49 yards on five catches. This was despite him playing through an injury that caused him to be a game-time decision. He's been limited in practice this week, but if he was able to go last week he should be fine to play this week as well.

The injury and the matchup scare us a little bit, so Diggs should be viewed more as a WR2 this week. He still has upside due to his playmaking ability, but the Seahawks aren't a cake walk.

MIN WR Stefon Diggs - Week 13 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 13 at New England Patriots

Stefon Diggs caught eight of his 11 targets for 77 yards and a touchdown last week. Diggs has seen 10 or more targets in every game but two this season, as he's been able to remain a strong sidekick to Adam Thielen. He's scored in three straight games, and we expect him to have another solid outing against the Patriots in Week 13.

Owners should be aware Diggs missed practice Wednesday and Thursday, but he says he'll be ready to play by Sunday. His health should be monitored, but if he's active, expect him to be a WR2 with upside vs. New England.
