PHI WR Nelson Agholor - 2017 Fantasy Football Outlook

Fantasy Upside

Nelson Agholor moves to the slot this season, after a strong training camp and the Eagles trading Jordan Matthews to Buffalo. The former first-round pick out of USC will compete for targets behind Alshon Jeffery, Torrey Smith, and Zach Ertz.

Fantasy Downside

Did we mention the names above? Agholor also had four drops last season and consistently failed to create separation from coverage.

2017 Bottom Line

Agholor is not a factor in fantasy drafts, as you should do nothing more than take a wait-and-see approach with him after the Eagles added two new receivers to the mix.

PHI WR Nelson Agholor - Week 5, 2015 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 5 vs. New Orleans
Nelson Agholor busted out a little bit, catching three balls for 64 yards last week. He continues to play a lot, averaging 86-percent of the snaps this year, which included a season high 96-percent last year. He's only getting targeted four times a game and averages less than two catches a game, though. It could be a sign Agholor is about to be more of a factor in the offense. While he's ranked as a WR4, he's certainly not all that safe for lineups even in deeper leagues, but may be worth picking up if he's on your wire and you're looking for some help at the position in the near future.

PHI WR Nelson Agholor - Week 3, 2015 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 3 at Detroit
Nelson Agholor again saw a lot of snaps, playing 76-percent in Week 2 after seeing 80-percent in Week 1. Unfortunately, he caught just three balls for 31 yards in Week 2. He was targeted six times, so at least Sam Bradford is starting to look his way. This is a tough matchup this week and Agholor very well could see Darrelle Revis in this one, making him a very risky start on top of all the troubles this offense is having.

PHI WR Nelson Agholor - Week 2, 2015 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 2 vs. Dallas
Nelson Agholor had just one catch for five yards on two targets. He also had a costly penalty, so it wasn't a good debut for the rookie. Given his performance in Week 1, he's again a risky start in Week 2 until we see more. The Cowboys are fifth in allowing fantasy points to WRs, so it's not a good matchup on top of Agholor's Week 1 struggles.

PHI WR Nelson Agholor - Week 1, 2015 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 1 at Atlanta
Rookie WR Nelson Agholor is one of several Eagles making their debut on Monday night. Agholor has already shown his talent in the preseason, and fantasy owners are hoping it translates into the regular season. Agholor has a good matchup as the Falcons were 22nd in allowing fantasy points to WRs last season, but the question will be how will he be used early in the season. The Eagles do tend to use a rotation at the position and are expected to include Riley Cooper, Josh Huff and Miles Austin. Agholor comes in 35th on our WR list this week, making him a low-end WR3 play in 12-team leagues.

PHI WR Nelson Agholor - 2015 Fantasy Football Outlook

Fantasy Upside
WR Nelson Agholor has a chance to be very good right from the start in the Eagles offense. The Birds don't have a lot of talent at the position and Agholor comes in with the ability to change that. The rookie already displayed his talents in preseason Week 1 as he reached up high to catch a quick pass and used his speed to take it to the house. With Jordan Matthews likely to operate out of the slot, Agholor appears a lock to earn one of the outside jobs.

Fantasy Downside
Agholor is just a rookie, but we've seen rookie WRs explode on the scene in the recent past. While Agholor certainly has the chance to do that, the Eagles will look to run the ball and like Riley Cooper's blocking ability on the outside. Veteran Miles Austin is also in the mix as is second-year man Josh Huff. Agholor will have to continue living up to expectation if he wants to keep his job.

Bottom Line
Agholor is ranked 37th on our WR list, which puts him in the low-end WR3 range in 12-team leagues. There are more experienced guys ranked around Agholor on our list like John Brown, Charles Johnson, Eddie Royal and Marques Colston, for example. You may feel more comfortable with those options, but Agholor has the upside that could make him a more valuable pick.
