SD RB Melvin Gordon - Week 15, 2015 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 15 vs. Miami

Melvin Gordon carried 14 times for 35 yards last week and added four catches for 28 yards. It was a tough matchup against the Chiefs and Gordon was coming off a fumble and benching in Week 13.

Gordon is again tough to trust this week even in a much friendlier matchup. The Dolphins are 30th in allowing fantasy points to RBs. This could be a great opportunity for the Chargers to try and get their young running back going. The carries have been their for Gordon but not the production and he's yet to find the end zone this season. Gordon could very well exceed his ranking this week if the Bolts make an effort to get him his break-out game, but he's much too risky for fantasy lineups in what is likely playoff time.

SD RB Melvin Gordon - Week 14, 2015 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 14 vs San Diego
Melvin Gordon ran 12 times for 58 yards but fumbled for the fourth time this season. Fumbles have been an issue all year for Gordon and it's cost him playing time along the way. With really no other option to carry a decent workload, the Bolts will likely continue to stick with Gordon for the rest of the season. He's still in search of his first TD and this week's opponent, the Chiefs, are 11th in allowing fantasy points to RBs so this isn't a great matchup for Gordon owners. He comes in all the way down at 45th this week on our list.

SD RB Melvin Gordon - Week 13, 2015 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 13 vs Broncos

Those who follow the team feel Melvin Gordon continues to get better and perhaps had his best game since Week 2 last week against the Jags. Still, from a fantasy prospective, he finished with just 14 carries for 60 yards, but his 4.29 YPR was, in fact, his best since Week 2.

Gordon is still looking for his first TD this season and came close last week He also hasn't fumbled since Week 6. Since Week 7, he's averaging about 15 carries a game. This week, he's still more of a flex or RB3 option as the Broncos are 19th in allowing fantasy points to RBs. Next week's matchup against KC (seventh) will also be a tough go before some more favorable matchups to end the year.

SD RB Melvin Gordon - Week 12, 2015 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 12 at Jacksonville
Melvin Gordon and his owners continue to look for that breakout fantasy game. It didn't happen last week as Gordon saw 15 carries for just 37 yards while adding a catch for 12 yards. The Chiefs defense has been playing well and the entire SD offense struggled in this game. This week, it's a much more favorable matchup as the Jags are just 21st in allowing fantasy points to RBs. However, Gordon is just too risky at this point until we see more.

SD RB Melvin Gordon - Week 11, 2015 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 11 vs Kansas City
Melvin Gordon carried 11 times for 31 yards and added three catches for 25 yards back in Week 9 against the Bears. Gordon continues to disappoint in terms of fantasy production this year and this week has a tough matchup against the Chiefs are are 10th in allowing fantasy points to RBs. Gordon is a risky play, but with Branden Oliver out for the year and the Chargers sitting at 2-7, the good news is Gordon may have no choice but to get a bulk of the workload on the ground. He's more of a higher-end RB3 type of play this week, but is due for that break-out game.

SD RB Melvin Gordon - Week 9, 2015 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 9 vs. Chicago

Melvin Gordon carried 18 times last week for 54 yards and added five catches for just seven yards. With Banden Oliver now out for the season, Gordon should be in line for more of a workload after the team started to give Oliver more looks.

Gordon will have to step up though and his total of 54 yards this past week was his second-highest of 2015. That's certainly ertainly not what fantasy owners and the Chargers were expecting this season. It's a tough matchup for Gordon this week as the Bears are sixth in allowing fantasy points to RBs. He should continue to see plenty of touches, as the 18 last week was a season-high for carries and the 23 total touches was also a season-high.

SD RB Melvin Gordon - Week 7, 2015 Fantasy Football Outlook

After lines of 15-42-0 in the running game and 7-52-0 in the passing game in Week 5, last week was supposed to be the game rookie Melvin Gordon busted out. Instead, he carried seven times for 29 yards and lost a fumble, his third of the year and second in as many weeks. He also didn't catch a pass. On top of that, he has a tough matchup in Week 7 against the Raiders, who are 10th in allowing fantasy points to RBs. Gordon isn't a great play outside of a flex spot, and the next few weeks aren't schedule-friendly with games against Baltimore and Chicago (who are also in the top-10 in allowing fantasy points to RBs).

SD RB Melvin Gordon - Week 6, 2015 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 6 at Green Bay

Melvin Gordon was much more involved in the Chargers offense in Week 5, running his normal 15 times for 42 yards, but catching seven passes for 52 yards, as he was targeted nine times. He was more productive in the passing game than Danny Woodhead, and also played on 61-percent of the snaps compared to Woodhead's 39-percent.

Gordon certainly seems like he's trending up after a big Week 5. He has a nice matchup this week at Green Bay as the Packers are 20th in fantasy points allowed to RBs. Gordon did fumble for the second time this season, but doesn't seem like he's headed toward the doghouse. While we still have Woodhead ranked higher, it sure seems like Gordon could be starting to close the gap.

SD RB Melvin Gordon - Week 5, 2015 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 5 vs Pittsburgh

Last week could have been a big week for Gordon going against Browns, who were ranked in the bottom half of the league allowing fantasy points to RBs. But Gordon carried just 12 times for 38 yards while adding two catches for eight yards.

For the most part, Gordon has struggled this season outside of a 16-88-0 performance in Week 2. Teammate Danny Woodhead is ahead of Gordon in our rankings this week in both standard and PPR formats. On top of that, it's a tough matchup for Gordon as the Steelers are sixth in allowing fantasy points to RBs. Gordon is getting his chances, averaging 14 carries a game, but just not producing yet.

Friday, October 9, 2015 - 1:10am
SD RB Melvin Gordon - Week 4, 2015 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 4 vs Cleveland

Melvin Gordon got 14 carries and turned those into 51 yards in Week 3. It wasn't a great fantasy game, but it was a tough matchup against the Vikes going in.

The good news is Gordon is averaging about 15 carries a game so far this year, so he's getting a predictable chunk of work. He's not all that involved in the passing game because of Danny Woodhead, Gordon is ranked 14th in standard making him a borderline RB1 play this week. The Browns are just 27th in allowing fantasy points to RBs, so this is a great potential matchup for Gordon owners to get him in lineups as the Bolts could go run-heavy this week.
