KC RB Jerick McKinnon - Week 9 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 9 vs. Tennessee Titans

Once again Jerick McKinnon led the Chiefs in playing time, seeing 44% of the offensive snaps in Week 7. But he's not much of a factor when it comes to actually getting touches. He had two carries for 12 yards and had two receptions for 36 yards on three targets. It is worth noting McKinnon was the only Chiefs back with a reception in Week 7. But McKinnon is third in the pecking order when it comes to this Chiefs three-headed backfield, at least for fantasy purposes. McKinnon shouldn't be viewed as a viable fantasy option in Week 9, especially against a tough Titans defense.

KC RB Jerick McKinnon - Week 7 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 7 at San Francisco 49ers

Jerick McKinnon continued his usual role for the Chiefs in Week 6. He had two carries for one yard, and saw three targets, finishing 3-29 as a receiver. He played on 43% of the offensive snaps, and has now seen slightly more playing time than Clyde Edwards-Helaire in two straight games. But playing time doesn't always equate to fantasy points. McKinnon is averaging just 6.3 touches for 31.1 yards with just one touchdown through six games. He won't be a good play in Week 7, especially in a tough matchup against the 49ers.

KC RB Jerick McKinnon - Week 6 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 6 vs. Buffalo Bills

Jerick McKinnon out-produced Clyde Edwards-Helaire last week (72 scrimmage yards to 35), but did it on fewer touches (10 to 12). While McKinnon saw fewer touches than CEH in Week 5, his 10 touches were the highest he's seen in a game this year. While it's a nice game from McKinnon, we wouldn't expect a massive shift in the Chiefs backfield because of it. McKinnon is still someone averaging just 31 scrimmage yards a game with a lone touchdown on the season. He won't be a viable option in Week 6 against a tough Bills defense.

KC RB Jerick McKinnon - Week 5 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 5 vs. Las Vegas Raiders

Jerick McKinnon played a season-low 22% of the offensive snaps last week. The Chiefs utilized Clyde Edwards-Helaire more than usual, giving him 19 carries after he averaged 7.3 carries through the first three games. Then as the game got out of hand, the Chiefs leaned on Isiah Pacheco. But even when McKinnon plays more, like he did through the first three games, he never saw the ball enough to make him a relevant fantasy target. We'd avoid him moving forward.

KC RB Jerick McKinnon - Week 4 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 4 at Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Jerick McKinnon matched Clyde Edwards-Helaire in carries last week with seven, but only managed to finish with 20 yards. He also had a lone target, which he did not catch. McKinnon has actually played more than CEH this season (87 offensive snaps to 77), but has fewer touches (34 to 20). McKinnon is a nice handcuff option in case CEH ever misses time, but as of now he's not getting enough touches to warrant fantasy consideration. He's especially a low-level option in Week 4 against a very tough Bucs defense.

KC RB Jerick McKinnon - Week 3 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 3 at Indianapolis Colts

Jerick McKinnon is keeping pace with Clyde Edwards-Helaire in terms of snap counts (in fact he's actually played two more) but the production hasn't been there. McKinnon has 65 scrimmage yards on 13 touches through two games, and he scored a touchdown in Week 2. McKinnon is getting some decent playing time, but CEH is getting the valuable touches in this offense. For now, McKinnon is nothing more than a desperation flex play.

KC RB Jerick McKinnon - Week 2 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 2 vs. Los Angeles Chargers

Jerick McKinnon had a decent role in Week 1, leading the Chiefs backfield with 18 pass routes and four targets. McKinnon finished 3-27 as a receiver while adding 22 yards on four attempts. He played the same amount of snaps of Clyde Edwards-Helaire, but it was also an odd game script. Still, McKinnon has a decent role as a receiving back in this offense. But the Chiefs utilized CEH near the redzone. McKinnon is decent, but he'll likely see less than 10 touches, which makes him a weak flex play. He's likely off the fantasy radar in Week 2 vs. the Chargers unless you play in a very deep league.

KC RB Jerick McKinnon - Week 8 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 8 vs. New York Giants

Jerick McKinnon saw four targets for the second straight week, but had little production finishing 2-17 as a receiver and seeing no carries on the ground. McKinnon isn't worth fantasy consideration this week unless something happens to Darrel Williams.

KC RB Jerick McKinnon - Week 7 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 7 at Tennessee Titans

Jerick McKinnon had a decent role last week in backup duty, although he wasn't terribly productive. He ran three times for 10 yards and caught one pass for five yards, but he matched starter Darrel Williams with four targets. He also played a healthy 28% of the offensive snaps. Still, he had just four touches for 15 yards a week ago, so it's hard to trust him as a fantasy option. He should remain on waivers.

KC RB Jerick McKinnon - Week 6 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 6 at Washington Football Team

Jerick McKinnon had a decent role in the Chiefs offense after Clyde Edwards-Helaire's injury last week, at least in terms of playing time. He saw 27 snaps (31%), which is just 10 fewer than Darrel Williams. But McKinnon had just three touches (1 carry, 2 receptions) in those 27 snaps. It's hard to trust McKinnon as a fantasy option given how few touches he had in that first game. Darrel Williams will be the back to own in Kansas City unless we see something different this week. It's worth keeping an eye on McKinnon's usage, but he shouldn't be played this week.
