Week 4 at Oakland Raiders
Jarvis Landry bounced back with a big game last week, catching eight of his 14 targets for 103 yards. He's now topped 10+ targets and 100+ yards in two games this season. New QB Baker Mayfield accounted for nine of Landry's 14 targets, so the rookie clearly feels comfortable going to the veteran.
We expect more of the same from Landry—high catches, near 100 yards—as he faces the Raiders in Week 4. Oakland has allowed the fifth-most fantasy points to opposing wideouts so far this season, so Landry should do well. We like him as a low-end WR1.
Week 3 vs. New York Jets
Jarvis Landry had a mediocre game last week, catching five passes for a nice 69 yards. He saw seven targets, which tied with two other players for most on the team, so the ball was definitely spread around more in Week 2 compared to Week 1.
Landry gets a decent matchup against the Jets this week. New York has given up one touchdown to the WR group in both games, so perhaps Landry can get his first score of the season. We like Landry as a solid WR2 in both standard and PPR formats.
Week 2 at New Orleans Saints
As expected, Jarvis Landry has a similar role with the Browns as he's had his entire career. He saw 15 targets, which is more than double what any other Cleveland Brown receiver saw in Week 1. He turned those targets into seven receptions for 106 yards.
Landry gets an interesting matchup in Week 2 as the Saints were torched last week, despite the expectation of them being a good defense. We'll see if Week 1 for New Orleans was a fluke, but if not, then expect Landry to feast this week. We like him as a low-end WR1 in PPR and a solid WR2 in standard.
Week 1 vs. Pittsburgh Steelers
Jarvis Landry comes over to Cleveland this season after spending the last four seasons in Miami. With the Dolphins, Landry established himself as a possession receiver, averaging 105 catches per season over the last three years. This is obviously great for PPR formats, but the fact he didn't even get to 1,000 yards in 2017 puts him in a different category for standard leagues.
We expect Landry to put up similar production with the Browns in 2018. His end-of-the-year stats may be different, but he'll play the same role in Cleveland. He should be viewed as a WR2 option heading into Week 1 against Pittsburgh.
Fantasy Upside
Jarvis Landry was a standout receiver on the Dolphins for the last three seasons. He put up career numbers a year ago in receptions (112) and touchdowns (9). He joins the Browns in 2018 after having the most receptions ever in the first four seasons of a career (400) and will look to continue to be a reliable option, but this time for Tyrod Taylor.
Fantasy Downside
Landry joins an already talented receiving group which features Josh Gordon, Corey Coleman, Duke Johnson. and David Njoku. Up to this point, Landry has been a very catch-friendly receiver, which you can see clearly from last year as he led the league in receptions, but didn’t even get to 1,000 yards. Can Landry find a new way to put up numbers that isn’t just catching seven passes a game?
2018 Bottom Line
Landry coming to Cleveland helps the Browns add talent at receiver, but it doesn’t exactly help Landry as a fantasy prospect. He should still be a good option, but we don’t expect him to continue putting up low-end WR1 numbers in PPR formats. Instead, he’s a lower-end WR2 in PPR and a WR3 choice in standard leagues.
Week 17 vs. Buffalo Bills
The Dolphins host the Bills in Week 17, looking to spoil Buffalo's playoff hopes. Buffalo is top five in aFPA to WRs this season. However, Jarvis Landry should continue to be targeted heavily and produce at a high catch rate, as evidenced by his 10 reception game against this team a couple weeks ago. As usual, Landry gets a bump in PPR but is playable in all formats.
Week 16 at Kansas City Chiefs
Miami has the fourth-lowest implied team total in Vegas this week at 16.5 points, and the Dolphins must go on the road to face a Chiefs team still playing for the AFC West crown. Not a good combination. The good news is Landry faces a Chiefs defense ranked 21st in aFPA against WRs. He's also averaged more than 20 PPR points over the past two weeks. At worst, Landry is a WR2 this week, in what is likely to be a pass-heavy, negative game script.
Week 15 at Buffalo Bills
The Dolphins clearly had their best performances of the season at home the past two weeks against the Patriots and Broncos. But this warm weather team must now go to Buffalo, where Miami has a bottom six-implied team total in Vegas this week. The Dolphins also haven't scored more than 21 points in any road game this season, but Jarvis Landry has posted double-digit PPR points in all but one road game this season. The weather will be cold, but forecasts call for no precipitation and only light winds. Continue to start Landry.
Week 14 vs. New England Patriots
Kenny Stills exploded for 13 targets last week at the expense of Jarvis Landry only getting 6 targets. However, Landry has averaged more than 18 PPR points in his last four games against New England. The Patriots, who are allowing the sixth-fewest standard fantasy points to opposing receivers over the last four weeks, are better now than their No. 21 aFPA ranking vs. WRs. Consider Landry a WR2, at worst, this week.
Week 13 vs. Denver Broncos
Miami-Denver has the lowest over/under in Vegas for Week 13, with the Dolphins only expected to score 19 points. Nevertheless, Jarvis Landry is still an every-week fantasy starter, especially in PPR leagues due to his high number of targets (10.6 per game). In a tough matchup though, Landry is more of a WR2 than potential WR1 in PPR formats.
