MIA WR Jarvis Landry - 2016 Fantasy Football Outlook

Fantasy Upside
Jarvis Landry has been Ryan Tannehill’s favorite target. His 166 targets in 2015 were 6th in the NFL, very much raising his floor. His 110 receptions tied for 4th in the NFL, behind only Antonio Brown, Julio Jones and DeAndre Hopkins. Landry’s touchdowns could also increase from a disappointing four in 2015. That’s because it was a surprisingly low total, considering Landry was tied for 7th in the NFL with 23 red zone targets. Compare that to A.J. Green and Allen Robinson who had 22 and 21 red zone targets, respectively; Green caught seven red zone touchdowns and Robinson caught 12 red zone touchdowns. New head coach Adam Gase has also been a boon to receivers in fantasy (see Alshon Jeffery, Demaryius Thomas, and Emmanuel Sanders). Landry was a top-15 WR in standard leagues and top-10 in PPR in 2015.

Fantasy Downside
Landy’s upside is capped in standard leagues, as his 10.5 yards per reception was historically low in 2015 for a WR with 110 receptions. It was only the 7th time in NFL history a player averaged less than 11 yards per reception while catching at least 110 passes. The evolution of DeVante Parker in the offense could take targets away from Landry too, which are crucial to him considering his career 9.9 yards per reception, meaning he needs more targets to be as fantasy relevant as other receivers.

Bottom Line
Landry still feels like a safe bet to produce at least WR2 production in 2016, but take note of the difference between our rankings for standard and PPR leagues on Landry. Top-20 WR in PPR and a WR3 in standard, according to our projections. That makes his 4th round ADP justifiable in one scoring format but not the other.

MIA WR Jarvis Landry - Week 17, 2015 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 17 vs. New England

Jarvis Landry's second year has been a successful one as he went over 100 receptions and 1,000 yards. His biggest boost comes in PPR leagues as he has at least seven receptions in nine games this season.

Landry will face a Patriots defense he finished 6-71 against earlier in the season. The Pats aren't a shutdown defense, but they play well and can be tough to move the ball against. Landry will be a WR2 in standard leagues and a low WR1 in PPR formats.

MIA WR Jarvis Landry - Week 16, 2015 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 16 vs. Indianapolis

Jarvis Landry continues to be a strong PPR option as he's now three receptions away from 100 on the season. He's caught eight passes or more in seven of his 14 games in 2015.

Landry will get a decent matchup against the Colts this week, although he'll have to try and find success in Miami's struggling offense. He'll likely put up the receptions as usual, but don't expect too many yards. Landry should be viewed as a WR2 play this week.

MIA WR Jarvis Landry - Week 15, 2015 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 15 vs. San Diego

After his huge letdown in Week 13, Jarvis Landry was back to his old ways last week going for 99 yards on 11 receptions. It's his third game with at least 10 receptions in his last six performances.

This week he'll face a Chargers defense that has surprisingly held receivers in check this season. Despite the poor matchup, we still like Landry due to the fact he sees so many targets. He should be a high WR2 in standard and a low-end WR1 in PPR formats.

MIA WR Jarvis Landry - Week 14, 2015 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 14 vs. New York Giants
Jarvis Landry had low production last week as Ryan Tannehill only had 86 yards passing. Landry finished with five of those yards on a lousy two receptions. It was a major letdown considering the monster game he had a week prior. We expect Landry to rebound this week in a favorable matchup against the Giants. He's too good of a player to have back-to-back awful games. He should be viewed as a WR2 with upside.

MIA WR Jarvis Landry - Week 13, 2015 Fantasy Football Outlook

Jarvis Landry - Week 13 vs. Baltimore
Jarvis Landry continued his strong performance with a monster game last week, exploding for 165 yards on 13 receptions, including a touchdown. He really took advantage of the Jets' injuries in the secondary.

Landry should have another big game this week against a poor Ravens defense. There's no reason to expect a big drop in production. He'll be a low-end WR1 in both PPR and standard formats.

MIA WR Jarvis Landry - Week 12, 2015 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 12 at New York Jets
Jarvis Landry will go against a Jets defense this week that be without Darrelle Revis (concussion). It makes this matchup a little easier, but it's still not glamorous. In addition, Landry hasn't been stellar this season. The Dolphins wideout has been consistent, but has only had three games above 70 receiving yards. This week, Landry should be viewed as a WR2 in both standard and PPR formats.

MIA WR Jarvis Landry - Week 11, 2015 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 11 vs. Dallas

Jarvis Landry had a nice 7-51-1 stat line last week against Philly. As of now, Landry is on pace for over 100 receptions and 1,000 yards on the season, which is really good. He's been consistent all season long with at least three receptions and 40 yards in each game.

He gets a tough matchup this week against Dallas. The Cowboys have only allowed one receiving touchdown to wideouts in their last four games. But Landry's success hasn't come from finding the end zone. He makes his living off of receptions. Landry won't be a great option this week, but his ceiling makes him very valuable. He should be viewed as a WR2 in standard formats and a low-end WR1 in PPR.

Friday, November 20, 2015 - 9:54am
MIA WR Jarvis Landry - Week 10, 2015 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 10 at Philadelphia
Jarvis Landry has 25 more targets than anyone on Miami and leads the team in receptions (53), making him a great PPR option. He proved that last week as he finished with 11 catches for 69 yards. He also ran the ball four times for 18 yards, giving him 12 carries through eight games this season.

Landry's versatility makes him an intriguing option each week, but especially this week in a favorable matchup against the Eagles. Philadelphia has been ripped apart by wideouts all season long, and Landry should be able to take full advantage. He'll be a low-end WR1 or strong WR2 in PPR formats and a solid WR2 play in standard leagues.

Friday, November 13, 2015 - 11:12am
MIA WR Jarvis Landry - Week 9, 2015 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 9 at Buffalo
Jarvis Landry continues to have a strong season, even in his not-so-big games. The Dolphins struggled last week, but Landry was still able to come away with six receptions for 71 yards. Landry is the No. 1 option for Tannehill and is being used creatively for Miami. He's had multiple rushing attempts this season, and has even scored on the ground. He should be a WR2 play this week in a modest matchup against Buffalo.
