NYG TE Evan Engram - Week 16 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 16 at Baltimore Ravens

Evan Engram curiously made the pro bowl, despite only scoring two touchdowns all season. Last week, he had four catches on seven targets for 46 yards. He’s getting targets – averaging 6.8 per game on the season – but it’s hard to trust him when his production has been lacking. He had a few nice games in November, but has just 10 catches and 96 yards total over his last three outings.

This week, Engram faces a Ravens defense that ranks 20th in aFPA to opposing tight ends. His targets and a decent matchup, combined with a game script that should favor the Giants throwing the ball make him a nice upside pick. His lack of consistent production this year gives him risk, however, and we have him ranked as a fringe TE1 this week.

NYG TE Evan Engram - Week 15 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 15 vs. Cleveland Browns

Evan Engram failed to produce in a pretty good matchup last week, catching just two of his four targets for 18 yards. The Giants looked terrible on offense, and Engram struggled right along with the rest of the team. Engram has some upside with his targets – averaging 7.6 over his last seven games – but the team has struggled too much to get too excited about him.

This week, Engram faces a Browns defense that ranks 20th in aFPA to opposing tight ends. So the upside is there for him to produce. Fantasy owners with more consistent options should ignore Engram, but with such a dearth of production at the position, streamers chasing targets could do worse than gambling on Engram in a solid matchup.

NYG TE Evan Engram - Week 14 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 14 vs. Arizona Cardinals

Evan Engram was held to just 32 yards in a win over the Seahawks last week, but he caught four of the eight passes thrown his way, and he’s now averaging 8.2 targets over his past six games.

Engram has a pretty good matchup this week against the Cardinals, who rank 19th in aFPA to opposing tight ends this season. He only has two touchdowns all season, but the targets he’s had in recent weeks make him a solid option at a position that’s looking thinner and thinner as the season progresses. We have him just outside our top-five this week, and he’s a sneaky good starter in a nice matchup.

NYG TE Evan Engram - Week 13 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 13 at Seattle Seahawks

Evan Engram had a nice game last week, catching six of the nine balls thrown his way for 129 yards. It was his fourth game out of his last five with at least nine targets and double-digit PPR fantasy points.

The Seahawks have been terrible defensively this season, but they actually rank eighth in aFPA to opposing tight ends, despite giving up a touchdown to Dallas Goedert on Monday night. Engram is one of the few legit playmaking options for the Giants, and should get fed regardless of who plays quarterback. He’s risky, as is any Giant, but he’s worth the risk for needy owners.

NYG TE Evan Engram - Week 12 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 12 at Cincinnati Bengals

Evan Engram struggled in a good matchup against the Eagles before the bye last week, catching just two of three targets for 15 yards. Engram only has two touchdowns this season and has struggled to put up consistent numbers in a struggling offense. It was disheartening to see him fail to put up in a nice matchup and he’s definitely no more than a fringe, matchup-based option moving forward.

This week, Engram faces a Bengals defense that ranks 27th in aFPA to opposing tight ends, making it a nice matchup for him. The Giants are a difficult offense to bank on in general, but this might be one of those weeks where Engram is worth considering if you’re struggling at the position. Consider him a fringe starter.

NYG TE Evan Engram - Week 10 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 10 vs. Philadelphia Eagles

Evan Engram caught five of 10 targets last week for 48 yards and a touchdown. He’s had at least nine targets in three straight games and it was good to see him find the end zone for just the second time this season. Engram has the talent, but he’s been hard to trust in a Giants’ offense that has struggled all season.

Engram has a nice shot at repeating last week’s production against a vulnerable Eagles defense that ranks 31st in aFPA to opposing tight ends. Only the Falcons rank lower. If he continues to see nine-plus targets, he should be in for a quality outing. We have him ranked inside our top-10 at the position this week, and he’s worth the risk in a nice matchup.

NYG TE Evan Engram - Week 9 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 9 at Washington Football Team

Evan Engram caught five balls for 61 yards and added in nine rushing yards against the Buccaneers last week. He was targeted 10 times in a close loss, and he now has 19 targets over the past two games. While Engram has yet to turn this opportunity into legit fantasy production, it’s good to see his role in the offense is secure, especially with Sterling Shepard back in the lineup the last two weeks.

This is a nice matchup for Engram, as Washington has been solid defensively overall, but ranks 24th in aFPA to opposing tight ends. Engram has only eclipsed 60 yards twice this season and hasn’t had a touchdown reception yet – though he ran one in against Dallas – but his upside in a nice matchup combined with his recent targets make him worth considering as a streaming option this week.

NYG TE Evan Engram - Week 8 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 8 vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Evan Engram only had 46 yards last week against the Eagles, but he did catch six balls on nine targets. Engram’s only touchdown, and his performance last week was sadly his second-best game of the year. Engram remains an exciting piece for the Giants to build on long-term, but until the offense shows any kind of life, it’s hard to bank on him in any format.

The Buccaneers just allowed a touchdown to Darren Waller, but they rank 10th in aFPA to opposing tight ends this season, and there’s no reason to presume the Giants will be able to move the ball against a tough defense after struggling all season. Sit him.

NYG TE Evan Engram - Week 7 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 7 at Philadelphia Eagles

Evan Engram had just 30 yards on a pair of receptions last week against Washington. Engram has only one game with double-digit PPR points this year and until the Giants offense starts to improve, it’s hard to trust him in any given week. Against the Eagles Thursday night, he could bounce back. Only the Saints and Falcons rank lower than Philadelphia in aFPA to opposing tight ends. But unless you’re streaming or have an injury replacement, there should be a more consistent option available to you. Engram is better left on the bench until the Giants show more life and consistency on offense.

NYG TE Evan Engram - Week 6 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 6 vs. Washington Football Team

Evan Engram had just one reception for 16 yards last week, but he did find the end zone on the ground, finishing the day with 25 total yards and a touchdown. Still not an encouraging stat line for someone considered a top-10 option at his position. Engram is still an excellent athlete with high upside, and his 10 targets in Week 4 are encouraging, but this Giants offense is terrible, and that makes it hard to trust him.

This week, Engram faces a Washington defense that ranks 27th in aFPA to opposing tight ends, and just gave up a combined six catches for 102 yards against the Rams’ duo of Gerald Everett and Tyler Higbee. Engram has risk as a part of this struggling offense, but he should be considered an excellent streaming option this week, with TE1 upside in a nice matchup.
