TB WR Chris Godwin - Week 11 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 11 at New York Giants

After a poor outing the week before, Chris Godwin bounced back by leading the team in receiving (103 yards) last week. He did so by catching all seven of his targets. Unfortunately, he injured his ankle in the game and didn't practice on Wednesday or Thursday, putting his availability for Sunday in doubt.

If he does play, he can be viewed as a WR4. If not, expect a larger role from Adam Humphries vs. the Giants.

TB WR Chris Godwin - Week 10 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 10 vs. Washington Redskins

Chris Godwin had another disappointing effort last week, finishing with two receptions for 40 yards (three targets). He started the season hot, but lately, he's been overshadowed by Adam Humphries. There are just so many talented players in this offense, it's hard for everyone to maintain success.

Godwin can be viewed as a low-end WR3 option in a favorable matchup against the Redskins this week.

TB WR Chris Godwin - Week 9 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 9 at Carolina Panthers

Chris Godwin caught a touchdown in all three of Ryan Fitzpatrick's starts at the beginning of the year. Since then, he's had just one score as Jameis Winston played the majority of the snaps. He had his second-worst game of the season last week, finishing with two catches for 32 yards. But expect his production to go back up now that Winston, who greatly favored WR Adam Humphries, is now out at QB.

Godwin doesn't get a great matchup against the Panthers this week, but it's nothing too worrisome. Expect Godwin to return to similar production from earlier in the year, which makes him a lower-end WR3 choice in Week 9.

TB WR Chris Godwin - Week 8 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 8 at Cincinnati Bengals

Chris Godwin went 5-59 on six targets last week. Godwin has been surprisingly reliable in 2018 despite the many options in Tampa Bay's offense. He's scored four times in six games, and had 50+ yards in four games.

Expect similar production from Godwin this week against the Bengals, who are allowing the fifth-most receiving yards per game. Godwin can be viewed as a lower-end WR3 choice in Week 8.

TB WR Chris Godwin - Week 7 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 7 vs. Cleveland Browns

Chris Godwin tied for the team-high in targets (9) last week as he had a productive 6-56-1 line vs. the Falcons. He's now scored in every game but one this season and has had five-plus receptions in 3/5 games. We thought it'd be difficult for him to keep producing with so many weapons in this offense, but he's clearly found a role.

Godwin should be good to go again this week in a solid matchup against the Browns. He's a little touchdown reliant right now, but if he can keep hauling in passes he'll be good in PPR formats. We like him as a WR3 choice.

TB WR Chris Godwin - Week 6 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 6 at Atlanta Falcons

Chris Godwin's production was always going to be difficult to maintain. He's behind Mike Evans and DeSean Jackson, and has also been competing with O.J. Howard, Cameron Brate, RBs, and even Adam Humphries for those extra targets. He finished with just two receptions for 22 yards in his last game, and finished without a score for the first time this season.

We'll see if his lack of production continues, or if the dip was just a fluke this week against Atlanta. It's a favorable matchup for Godwin, who should be viewed as a WR3. It will also be a telling game to see how Jameis Winston utilizes the WR that did so well under Ryan Fitzpatrick.

TB WR Chris Godwin - Week 4 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 4 at Chicago Bears

Chris Godwin has been an interesting player so far this season. You keep expecting him to take a step back, but he keeps putting up production. He's now scored in every game and saw 10 targets in Week 3, which he turned into five receptions for 74 yards and a TD. He did have a fumble and a few dropped scores as well, so he's still developing into a reliable option.

Godwin gets a decent matchup this week against the Bears, where he expects to continue his high output. We like him as a lower-end WR3 choice.

TB WR Chris Godwin - Week 3 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 3 vs. Pittsburgh Steelers

Another week, another Chris Godwin touchdown. Godwin has been serviceable so far, but he's clearly down the pecking order behind Mike Evans and DeSean Jackson. As long as Fitzpatrick keeps having 400-yard, 4-touchdown games, Godwin will likely get his. But that's hard to sustain.

Godwin isn't a bad option, but he's more of a WR4 choice against the Steelers in Week 3.

TB WR Chris Godwin - Week 2 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 2 vs. Philadelphia Eagles

Chris Godwin was an ideal sleeper candidate heading into the year, and he certainly delivered in Week 1. He finished with a line of 3-41-1. He almost scored again on a long play which was overthrown. While it was the most dominating effort we've ever seen, it was solid production from a relatively small name.

We like Godwin again in Week 2 against the Eagles as a WR3 option.

TB WR Chris Godwin - 2018 Fantasy Football Outlook

Fantasy Upside

With DeSean Jackson sidelined in Weeks 16 and 17 last season, Chris Godwin stepped up and caught 10-of-18 targets for 209 yards and a touchdown. He was hidden for most of the season, but finished strong and has already been receiving rave reviews heading into his second year. He’s earned a new role in the slot, which means he should be on the field a lot more in 2018.

Fantasy Downside

The Bucs have a lot of offensive weapons in Mike Evans, Jackson, O.J. Howard, Cameron Brate and now Godwin. Even Adam Humphries has been a go-to guy in the past. Godwin is currently behind Evans and Jackson on the depth chart, and while the slot role is nice, being a starter would be even better.

2018 Bottom Line

Godwin falls under the “sleeper” tag in fantasy this year. He’s a talented wideout who should get an expanded role and should outplay his current late-round ADP. He proved to be more valuable than Jackson at the end of last season, so there’s certainly a chance he ends up getting more playing time than the veteran if he continues to have success like he did at the end of 2017.
