JAX RB Travis Etienne - Week 17 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 17 vs. Carolina Panthers

Week 16 was a dismal week for Travis Etienne that saw him amass just 4.6 Half-PPR points and finish as the RB47. Etienne carried the ball just six times for 12 yards, while his three receptions brought forth just 19 more yards. Etienne is the RB9 in points per game this season, but since Week 8 he has been the RB20. His rushing yards have dropped in each of his last four games.

Etienne is a volume-based RB1 projection this week against a Panthers team that has not been able to stop the run all year long. They rank 19th in aFPA to running backs. If Trevor Lawrence cannot go, then the Jaguars may lean on Etienne heavier than they have in recent weeks, but they and Etienne's fantasy managers will need to see him produce a lot more than his recent outings have put out.

JAX RB Travis Etienne - Week 16 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 16 at Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Travis Etienne was, once again, terribly inefficient in the Jaguars' loss to the Ravens last week. He managed 31 yards on ten carries and caught four passes for 28 yards on his way to 7.9 Half-PPR points and the RB30 position for the week. Etienne has not rushed for more than 56 yards in a game since Week 8 and has averaged more than four yards a carry in a game just once since Week 6.

It's tough to imagine Etienne bouncing back in Week 16, with C.J. Beathard at quarterback and a swarming Bucs run defense in front of him. The Bucs rank first in the entire league in aFPA to running backs. Etienne managers should be hoping for volume and a continuation of a streak that has seen Etienne catch four balls in each of his last four games to help them this week. Etienne looks more like a mid-tier RB2 than the top-six back he's been in fantasy points per game.

JAX RB Travis Etienne - Week 15 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 15 vs. Baltimore Ravens

Travis Etienne, like most of the Jaguars skill position players, struggled against the Browns last week. He could only muster 35 yards on 14 carries, and has his rushing score and his four grabs for 37 yards to thank for an RB15 finish in Half-PPR scoring.

It’s not an ideal matchup for Etienne managers in the first week of the fantasy playoffs, with the Ravens ranking fifth in aFPA to running backs this season. Etienne has run cold from a yardage point of view lately, and at present seems to need the deodorant of touchdowns to get him home from a fantasy angle. Consider him as a mid-range RB2 this week.

JAX RB Travis Etienne - Week 14 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 14 at Cleveland Browns

It wasn't a vintage game for Travis Etienne in Week 13, although he was still able to post RB1 numbers with 15.9 Half-PPR points. His 11 carries saw him amass 45 yards with a touchdown. Etienne also caught all four of his targets for another 34 yards.

Etienne might be in line for a heavy workload with the injuries at quarterback and wide receiver this week, but he could scarcely ask for a harder matchup. The Browns rank eighth in aFPA to running backs this season. Etienne should be viewed as a high-end RB2 this week, but we can still be hopeful about his performance for the rest of the season.

JAX RB Travis Etienne - Week 13 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 13 vs. Cincinnati Bengals

Travis Etienne put in a rather inefficient performance against the Texans, barely clearing 10 Half-PPR points. He rushed 20 times for 56 scoreless yards, adding another 30 yards on four receptions on his way to an RB19 finish, a long way off his RB7 average for the season.

Etienne should be able to bounce back against the Bengals, who rank 19th in aFPA to running backs this season. Etienne projects to be a high-end RB1 this week, which would be easier for him to achieve if he started visiting the end zone again.

JAX RB Travis Etienne - Week 12 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 12 at Houston Texans

It was a quiet week for Travis Etienne against a stout Titans run defense in Week 11. Etienne managed just 52 rushing yards and seven receiving yards on his way to 7.4 Half PPR points and the RB27 spot. He is still the RB7 in average points per game in 2023.

Better days are ahead for Etienne, starting with this week's clash with the Texans. The Texans are middle of the pack in terms of aFPA to running backs, ranking 18th in the league. Etienne should be viewed as a mid-tier RB1 in what promises to be an exciting clash between these two rivals.

JAX RB Travis Etienne - Week 11 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 11 vs. Tennessee Titans

Week 10 was a rare bad day at the office for Travis Etienne this season. Etienne is the RB5 in average points per game in Half-PPR scoring this season with 17.3, but he could only manage 5.4 points against the 49ers. This was "good" for RB39 last week.

Etienne has a less-than-ideal matchup against the Titans as he looks to bounce back to form. The Titans rank fifth in aFPA to running backs this season. Still, Etienne's workload and opportunity share make him a player from which it is safe to project a good week's work. He's a mid-tier RB1 in Week 11.
