Week 17 at Houston Texans
Tyjae Spears saw nine carries and an impressive six targets last week against Seattle, which he turned into 67 scoreless yards. Spears has been impressive at times this season and projects for an exciting role next year, but the fact remains that he is firmly behind Derrick Henry when it comes to usage. As usual, Spears projects better for fantasy when the Titans are trailing and that could be the case this Sunday when they take on the Texans in Houston as four-point underdogs. Spears' sporadic usage makes him tough to start in fantasy, but there are worse options out there for a desperation flex in deep leagues.

Week 16 vs. Seattle Seahawks
Tyjae Spears maintained his typical role in Week 15 when he spelled Derrick Henry for nine carries and a reception on 52% of the Titans' offensive snaps. That workload only resulted in 37 scoreless yards, which goes to show that Spears has a very low floor despite some intriguing skills and a consistent passing game role. Spears and the other Titans get a good matchup this week against a soft Seattle defense, but his usage is too sparse to trust as a fantasy starter. That being said, Spears is a very interesting stash in keeper and dynasty leagues with Henry's future in Tennessee uncertain after this year.

TEN RB Tyjae Spears - Week 15 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 15 vs. Houston Texans
Tyjae Spears actually played nearly 65% of the Titans' offensive snaps in Week 14 against Miami as he and Derrick Henry both saw great usage against the Dolphins. Henry went off for 120 yards and two touchdowns, but Spears saw 16 carries and six targets totaling 88 scrimmage yards of his own. Unfortunately, Henry's goal-line dominance means Spears only has one touchdown on the season from way back in Week 5. Spears's primary path to fantasy success is through the passing game, which makes him inherently game script dependent. The Texans are not an overly imposing matchup and Spears should be rostered in all formats by now, but he is a risky start in the fantasy playoffs as long as Henry is healthy.

Week 14 at Miami Dolphins
Tyjae Spears saw some extra work in Week 13 when Derrick Henry had to exit the game for a concussion check. Henry apparently dodged an actual concussion, but it will be worth monitoring his practice participation this week in terms of how much usage Spears will see. Spears will likely not get 16 carries again this week, but he could be used more in the passing game as the Titans project to face a negative game script against the Dolphins' loaded offense. If Henry were to be limited in any way, Spears would emerge into the flex conversation due to his passing game involvement. Otherwise, Spears is nothing more than a change-of-pace option with a very low floor for fantasy purposes.

Week 12 vs. Carolina Panthers
Even with the benefit of negative game script in Week 11, Tyjae Spears only saw six opportunities (four carries and two targets). Spears has a non-existent fantasy floor anytime Derrick Henry is healthy. The Titans get a great matchup for the ground game in Week 12 against Carolina, but game script projects for a heavy dose of Henry this Sunday. Keep Spears on the bench as insurance for a Henry injury and nothing more.

Week 11 at Jacksonville Jaguars
Tyjae Spears had a bigger role than normal last week due to Tennessee quickly falling behind to Tampa Bay and having to make up ground with the passing game all afternoon. Spears saw nine touches compared to just 12 for Derrick Henry, and managed to catch four of five targets for 42 receiving yards. Spears' usage is directly correlated to game script, as Henry is still going to see the vast majority of touches in any game that is close or dominated by the Titans. Spears could see a couple more touches than usual again this Sunday with the Titans having to go on the road to face Jacksonville, but he is still not a trustworthy fantasy starter.

TEN RB Tyjae Spears - Week 10 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 10 at Tampa Bay Buccaneers

This offense may belong to Derrick Henry still, but Tyjae Spears very much has a role in it. He’s seen 51% of the team’s offensive snaps this year, including 59% last week against the Steelers. Spears ended up with nine touches and 22 yards, including four receptions. While you’d like to see more production with that workload, the touches are encouraging, and he’s averaging 7.6 touches per game on the season.

This week, Spears faces a tough Buccaneers defense that ranks fourth in aFPA to opposing running backs. Spears remains an elite bench stash player in case something happens to Henry, he’s too risky to start in your fantasy lineup this week. Henry is still getting nearly 20 touches per game, and in a tough matchup, it’s hard to trust Spears’ seven touches will net big fantasy numbers. Sit him.
