Scouting report

NO WR TreQuan Smith - Week 16 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 16 at Titans

The good news is that Smith has scored a touchdown in two straight games. The bad news is that he only has three catches in those games, including just one against the Colts in Week 15. Smith may have upside in daily fantasy, but he has too low of a ceiling for fantasy championship week.

NO WR TreQuan Smith - Week 15 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 15 vs Colts

Smith once again saw the field more than Ted Ginn, so it's obvious he is the second wide receiver in the offense. He even caught a touchdown pass against the 49ers. But that continues to be what you're banking on with Smith. Otherwise, he doesn't produce a strong fantasy day and that's not what you're looking for in the fantasy semifinals. He has a low floor and a low ceiling.

NO WR TreQuan Smith - Week 14 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 14 vs 49ers

Smith has worked his way up to playing about three-quarters of the Saints' offensive snaps over the last two weeks and is seeing the field more than Ted Ginn. The problem is he's still not seeing enough targets to be fantasy-relevant. The most targets he's seen in a game this season is three and he hasn't broken 20 yards receiving since Week 2. Even ahead of Ginn, he's too far down the pecking order to be trusted in the playoffs.

NO WR TreQuan Smith - Week 13 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 13 at Falcons

Smith has started to overtake Ted Ginn in terms of offensive snaps but is still fighting for targets with Ginn behind seemingly everyone else on the offense. Smith did turn his line reception last week into a touchdown, but that’s become the hope for him in fantasy is that he does score, because he won’t give you many catches. Like Ginn, Smith is a very desperate play now that every team has had their bye week,

NO WR TreQuan Smith - Week 12 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 12 vs Panthers

Smith is at least seeing the field, having played more snaps than Ted Ginn in Week 11. But Smith is just so far down the pecking order in the passing game. He's a desperation play in Week 12 so close to the fantasy playoffs.

NO WR TreQuan Smith - Week 11 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 11 at Buccaneers

Like Ginn, Smith is playing a lot of snaps but is an afterthought in the offense. He saw 55 snaps against the Falcons but saw just two targets and hauled in just one pass. He left the first Tampa game early due to injury and didn't see a target in the 18 snaps he played before leaving. He's another gamble at wide receiver but against a defense like the Buccaneers, the upside for a touchdown catch is there.

NO WR TreQuan Smith - Week 10 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 10 vs. Falcons

Smith missed the last three games before the Saints' bye with an ankle injury but after having the bye week to rest, Smith looks ready to return to the Saints' lineup. Smith caught just five passes in the first two weeks of the season before he began battling ankle injuries. Smith will likely return to battling with Ted Ginn for No. 2 WR duties and both certainly take a backseat to Michael Thomas and Alvin Kamara. Smith may not carry much upside coming back from injury, but like with Ginn, is at least worth considering in a game where the Saints might score at will and six teams have the week off.
