Scouting report

DAL RB Tony Pollard - Week 17 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 17 versus Arizona Cardinals

Pollard is well-rested after a 10-touch Week 16. Arizona comes to town with injuries an issue on their front four, and that was before their penchant for allowing big plays to running backs. That screams Pollard with Ezekiel Elliott slowed down by knee issues. Pollard remains a flex option until Zeke’s knees find the fountain of youth.

DAL RB Tony Pollard - Week 16 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 16 versus Washington Football Team

Death. Taxes. Out-producing Ezekiel Elliott. Torn plantar fascia or not, Pollard had 24 more rushing yards than Zeke on four fewer carries and any thought of Elliott fending off Pollard as the fantasy season winds down is useless. Pollard has a better chance to rack up yards against a strong WFT run defense (5th in RB aFPA) and should continue to get sprinkled into the Cowboys' passing game.

DAL RB Tony Pollard - Week 14 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 14 at Washington Football Team

Pollard is dealing with a torn plantar fascia suffered during his TD run against the Saints and is questionable to play Week 14.

Pollard may have been out-touched by Ezekiel Elliott 15-9 Week 13, but Pollard had more total yards (74-47) and exploded for a long touchdown run against a strong Saints rush defense. WFT’s defense is not at the same level as New Orleans, but they do stifle opposing backs as the 16th-ranked defense against RBs using schedule-adjusted fantasy points allowed.

DAL RB Tony Pollard - Week 13 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 13 at New Orleans Saints

Pollard had one fewer touch than Ezekiel Elliott and had more combined yards in Week 12. It is as simple as Pollard appears healthier and has taken a lot fewer hits than Zeke, and that is okay. The running back position is ruthless and leads to shorter careers. Pollard’s role in the higher-scoring Cowboys offense will keep him in the flex conversation the rest of the fantasy season, especially in PPR formats.

DAL RB Tony Pollard - Week 12 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 12 versus Las Vegas Raiders

It is realistic to think Tony Pollard sees more snaps at wide receiver Week 12 if CeeDee Lamb (concussion) is out. He is coming off his best two-game stretch for receptions and receiving yards this season and should also see running down work against the 29th-ranked rush defense according to schedule-adjusted fantasy points allowed (aFPA). Pollard is flex-worthy despite the short week because of bye weeks.

DAL RB Tony Pollard - Week 11 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 11 at Kansas City Chiefs

A rust-less Dak Prescott vaulted every offensive player for the Cowboys. Pollard’s 17 total touches were his first in the double digits since Week 6. Pollard should continue to see a flex-like role against the Chiefs in Week 11. K.C. is top 10 in aFPA against opposing backs, but is allowing 6.3 receptions to the position per game. Pollard and Ezekiel Elliott combined for nine Week 10.

DAL RB Tony Pollard - Week 10 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 10 vs Atlanta Falcons

Pollard continues to have a role in the Cowboys' offense but will have capped upside as he only sees approximately 30% of snaps. The imminent return of Michael Gallup will also take away snaps for Pollard in the passing game. Pollard is in flex consideration Week 10.
