Scouting report

by Matt Rittle

NE TE Tim Wright - Week 11, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 5 at IND
Wright has proven capable of putting up some fantasy numbers when given the chance. However, a great deal of his chances this season have come with Rob Gronkowski on the sideline. While the Colts offer a top 5 aFPA matchup to TEs, we can never predict when Wright may or may not see targets. Given his situation and upside, though, we do rank him in the high-end TE3 conversation, for those of you in leagues with those crazy settings. For everyone else (most of us), he is easily left on benches, if not waivers.

NE TE Tim Wright - Week 9, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 9 vs Denver
Coming into the game in relief of a dehydrated Rob Gronkowski last week, Wright put up a very respectable 7-61-1 line even in limited mop up relief duty. There's no way Wright can push Gronk for snaps or targets, but he's proven more than capable as a fill-in when necessary.

We rank him as a mid-range TE2 this week, which makes him a fine desperation spot start if your options are limited.

NE TE Tim Wright - Week 8, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 8 vs CHI
Wright played 33% of the snaps in Week 7, but failed to receive a target. While he may vulture a TD here or there, it's impossible to trust Wright in your lineups on such limited usage and snaps.

NE TE Tim Wright - Week 7, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 7 vs New York Jets
Wright played 23% of snaps in Week 6, after playing 22% in Week 5. He appears to be carving a steady, if small, role. He turned his one Week 6 target in a one yard TD, offering up a rare 1-1-1 line. Those of you in rare 2 TE leagues may want to consider Wright, but he's WW fodder in any other format. We rank Wright as a low end TE2, or midrange TE3, depending on your league size. The long-term prognosis here is interesting.

NE TE Tim Wright - Week 6, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 6 at Buffalo
Wright owners found some reason for encouragement in Week 5, as Wright put up a nice 5-85-1 line. Wright found some success in a few two TE sets, which is promising to owners. At the same time, he continues to play only on limited snaps, 22% last week. This may be a situation to monitor moving forward, but until his snap count rises, he's hard to start in a lineup, let alone own on a non-Gronk roster.

We do rank him as a low-end TE2 this week, for those of you in those unique leagues or desperate for a fill in.

NE TE Tim Wright - Week 5, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 5 at Cincinnati
Though he earned more snaps than fellow reserve TE Michael Hoomanawanui in Week 4, Wright continues to be a fantasy non-factor. It seems Wright's fantasy value this year will be a relative zero, as long as Gronk suits up every week.

NE TE Tim Wright - Week 4, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 4 at Kansas City
Wright saw only 7% of the snaps last week. With Gronk's snap count on the rise and Michael Hoomanawanui playing in front of Wright, there's little to see here.
