Scouting report

WAS WR Terry McLaurin - Week 8 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 8 vs Chicago Bears

Terry McLaurin is the WR19 in Half-PPR points per game this season, averaging 12.2 per contest. He was the WR16 a week ago, and he projects for a similar rank this week with a clash against the Chicago Bears ahead of him. McLaurin is likely to be without his quarterback, and this absence tied to the Bears ranking fourth in aFPA to wide receivers makes it hard to project him as anything above a mid-tier WR2 in Week 8.

WAS WR Terry McLaurin - Week 7 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 7 vs Carolina Panthers

One of the more pleasant stories of the fantasy season has been the fruitful linkup between Jayden Daniels and Terry McLaurin. McLaurin took advantage of this chemistry, and a weak Ravens pass defense, to score 20.3 Half-PPR points in Week 6, finishing as the WR5 for the week. McLaurin is still only the WR22 in points per game, but he is climbing the ladder.

McLaurin can be started with confidence at present, especially in Week 7 against the Carolina Panthers. The Panthers have been more generous to running backs than wide receivers this season but still rank 21st in aFPA to wideouts. McLaurin projects as a mid-level WR1 in Week 7.

WAS WR Terry McLaurin - Week 6 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 6 at Baltimore Ravens

Terry McLaurin fantasy managers are a bit happier with their lot in life over the last few weeks than they were at the very beginning of the season. McLaurin is now averaging a respectable 10.4 Half PPR points per game, making him usable while still keeping him down at WR34 for the year.

This shapes up to be a nice matchup for McLaurin against the Ravens, especially if the game descends into something of a shootout. The Ravens are seeing a ton of passes against them this season, and this level of onslaught factors into their 31st place ranking in terms of aFPA to wide receivers. McLaurin should be able to post solid WR2 numbers this week.

WAS WR Terry McLaurin - Week 5 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 5 vs. Cleveland Browns/strong>

While not exactly dominating fantasy wide receivers this season, Terry McLaurin has managed to string together consecutive fantasy-relevant weeks, with 14.7 Half PPR points in Week 4 following his 18.0 in Week 3. Last week, McLaurin caught seven of his 10 targets for 52 yards and a touchdown on his way to WR20 numbers.

The Browns have not been an easy out for wide receivers so far this season, with Jim Schwartz's side ranking eighth in a FPA to the position. But McLaurin is seeing enough work to keep him in your lineups, although expecting more than a low-end WR2 week would seem unwise.

WAS WR Terry McLaurin - Week 4 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 4 at Arizona Cardinals

Week 3 finally saw Terry McLaurin emerge from the fantasy doldrums, with four grabs for 100 yards and a touchdown. McLaurin posted 18.0 Half PPR points and finished as the WR10 for the week.

While we shouldn't expect such fireworks every week, his matchup in Week 4 against the Cardinals should allow him to remain somewhat fantasy-relevant, It's just lovely know that we can expect him to be in the WR2 mix after a rocky start to the year.

WAS WR Terry McLaurin - Week 3 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 3 at Cincinnati Bengals
Fantasy managers of a certain age may be able to remember when Terry McLaurin was a valuable asset on his own offense and on most people’s fantasy rosters. Those days are gone, it seems. McLaurin did see eight targets in Week 2 and caught six of them, but he managed a paltry 22 yards, finishing with 5.2 Half PPR points and behind 52 other WRs in weekly scoring.

The Bengals have allowed the 29th most receptions and receiving yards to wide receivers so far this season. It’s sad to say, but if you need anything more than low-end WR numbers from McLaurin this week, you’re likely to be disappointed.

WAS WR Terry McLaurin - Week 2 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 2 vs New York Giants

Week 1 of the 2024 season will not be a week held long in the memory of Terry McLaurin, or his fantasy managers. McLaurin was targetted just four times on his way to two grabs for 17 yards, an output that saw him finish as the WR77 in Half PPR scoring.

Week 2 might be better, with a matchup against the Giants on the slate. The Giants allowed 115 yards and two touchdowns to the Vikings wide receivers a week ago...on just eight catches. Still, it's hard to get too excited about McLaurin, and he certainly shouldn't be viewed as an elite option. He should be viewed as a WR3 this week.
