Scouting report

STL WR Stedman Bailey - 2015 Fantasy Football Outlook

Fantasy Upside
Stedman Bailey arguably runs the best routes of any receiver on the Rams roster and can play both outside the numbers and in the slot. If St. Louis were to make him a full-time starter, he could emerge as a streaming option for fantasy owners. It's not as if he doesn't have the talent, he just needs more opportunities after being targeted just 47 times last season.

Fantasy Downside
When healthy, Brian Quick will be the starter opposite Kenny Britt in the Rams offense. And since the team traded into the top 10 to select Tavon Austin in the 2013 draft, it is likely they will continue to try to get the ball into his hands every week. Thus, there are not enough targets to go around in Frank Cignetti's run-first offense. Unless there is an injury, Bailey will continue to be buried on the Rams' depth chart.

Bottom Line
Bailey is our WR74 and is going undrafted in 10 and 12-team leagues. If Britt or Quick were to get hurt, Bailey would see his snaps increase but still wouldn't hold much fantasy value. While he is certainly capable of doing more, Bailey doesn't start in a run-first offense. That tells you everything you need to know about his fantasy potential.

STL WR Stedman Bailey - Week 17, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 17: Bailey vs. Seahawks
Stedman Bailey caught two-of-five targets for 22 yards in the Rams' Week 16 loss to the Giants. He was actually wide open in the corner of the end zone on one of the final plays of the second half, but a bad snap messed with Shaun Hill's timing on the play and he overthrew Bailey for an incomplete pass. We'd love to see what Bailey could do with a consistent quarterback, but for now he's limited by an inconsistent passing game. Avoid him for Week 17.

STL WR Stedman Bailey - Week 16, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 16: Bailey vs. Giants
Steadman Bailey caught five-of-eight passes for 74 yards in the Rams’ Week 15 loss to the Cardinals. Bailey could have had a 100-yard effort and a possible touchdown had Shaun Hill hit him in stride on a crucial third-down play with just under two minutes remaining. Bailey was open on a slant but Hill threw high and behind Bailey, who couldn’t haul in the pass after leaving his feet. We don’t trust anything about the Rams’ passing game. Bailey ranks as our No. 39 overall WR for Week 16 and should be avoided.

STL WR Stedman Bailey - Week 15, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 15: Bailey vs. Cardinals
Stedman Bailey caught two-of-two targets for 47 yards in the Rams' Week 14 win over the Redskins. Just when he started to have fantasy appeal following back-to-back productive games, Bailey was a dud in a great matchup with Washington's brutal secondary. He did nearly score on a play in the second half but was pulled down just short of the goal line. At this point, it's hard to trust Bailey and the Rams' inconsistent passing game. He ranks as our No. 44 overall WR for Week 15 and should be avoided against Arizona on Thursday night.

STL WR Stedman Bailey - Week 14, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 14: Bailey vs. Redskins
Stedman Bailey caught five-of-six targets for 100 yards in the Rams’ 52-0 thrashing of the Raiders in Week 13. All of Bailey’s production came in the first quarter as St. Louis attacked Oakland’s perimeter with short, quick passes that allowed Bailey, Tre Mason and Tavon Austin to rack up yards after the catch. Bailey now has 12 catches for 189 yards and a touchdown in his last two games as his fantasy value continues to rise. The Rams’ passing game isn’t reliable but Bailey has a great matchup against a bad Washington defense this week. He ranks as our No. 36 overall WR for Week 14 but if you’re desperate and you’re looking for a boom-or-bust flier, Bailey is an intriguing option.

STL WR Stedman Bailey - Week 13, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 13: Bailey vs. Raiders
Stedman Bailey caught seven-of-nine targets for 89 yards and one touchdown in the Rams' Week 12 loss to the Chargers. The nine targets were tied with Jared Cook for most on the team as Bailey played 43-of-64 offensive snaps throughout the game. The second-year receiver clearly runs the best routes and has the most consistent hands on the team, but we can't trust Bailey in a limited St. Louis offense. He's worth a flier in deeper leagues but he's not to be trusted in a FLEX role. Bailey ranks as our No. 63 overall WR for Week 13.

STL WR Stedman Bailey - Week 12, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 12: Bailey vs. Chargers
Steadman Bailey caught all three of his targets for 26 yards in the Rams’ Week 11 win over the Broncos. It was the most times he’s been targeted since Week 8 against the Chiefs, but Bailey continues to be an afterthought in Brian Schottenheimer’s offense. Avoid him in all formats.
