The tight end position has been a source of frustration for the Houston Texans ever since coach Bill O'Brien's tenure began with the 2014 season.

That changed in a big way on Sunday in the Texans' 24-6 win over the New Orleans Saints.

Quarterback Brian Hoyer's first touchdown of the day was a 10-yard throw on a broken play to tight end Ryan Griffin. Griffin was the team's leading receiver with 72 yards on four catches. Tight end C.J. Fiedorowicz joined the party by catching both his targets for 20 yards.

"It’s about time," Griffin said. "I mean it’s really, we haven’t had a whole lot of productivity here even since I’ve been here. It feels good to help out and get a win. We’re getting the ball now so maybe that’s why."

Heading into Sunday's game, the Texans ranked 29th in passes targeting tight ends and consequently 31st in yards gained on passes to tight ends (209) and 31st in first downs gained by tight ends (10). Last season the Texans ranked last in the league in tight end targets and had only three touchdowns by tight ends all season, the story said.
